Home Freezing Food tips

While it is possible to frozen almost anything you buy, grow or bake, eggs still in their shell and anything sold in a can or sealed container is not supposed to be frozen. And in the freezer, some foods such as mayonnaise, salad dressing, and cream sauces are not good.

Without any issue, beef, poultry, fish and seafood can be frozen. Apart from lettuce and other raw greens, most fruits and vegetables can also be frozen. Here are some tips for fresh foods to freeze:

It is possible to peel and slice fruits into 1 to2-inch chunks and put them on a baking sheet and freeze until they are firm. In smaller freezer bags, place the berries. This is a good way to keep fruit for fruit-calling smoothies or recipes. They may not look pretty, but for cooking or mixing they're just going to be fine.

To optimal processing, vegetables need a little more effort. Until putting them in freezer bags, they should be blanched. Place them in boiling water for a minute or two to blanch your veggies and then plunge them into ice water to stop the process of cooking. You don't want to cook the veggies all the way through, but the blanching helps to better retain their freshness.

Raw meat, poultry and fish can be wrapped in freezer-proof paper and put in the freezer right away. Leftovers or meals that you prepare in advance can be frozen in freezing containers.

For your convinience, it is highly recommended to buy frozen meat from reputable frozen meat suppliers instead of do it yourself. It is much safer.
