Steptember & Bettercaremarket: getting behind a great cause

From the 1st of September, the Cerebral Palsy Alliance will launch their annual charity event ‘Steptember’ to help raise much needed cash to help improve the life of children and adults living with cerebral palsy. Steptember is an active and safe event that challenges people to walk, swim, ride, wheel or spin for 4 weeks in their own time.

Bettercaremarket is proud to support this great initiative by donating $75 of each of our four specialised walkers we sell during the 4 weeks in September.

Steptember

Steptember is an annual fundraising challenge that raises awareness for cerebral palsy in Australia and around the world. 2020 will be the 10th anniversary of Steptember. The fundraiser encourages people to take 10,000 steps a day – or the equivalent – over 28 days, which equates to 8 km a day or 240 km in a month.  The proceeds will go directly to the Cerebral Palsy Alliance for research projects, vital equipment, essential therapy and much needed services for people living with cerebral palsy.

What is cerebral palsy?

Cerebral Palsy is a neurological disorder caused by damage of the brain that occurs either during pregnancy or shortly after birth. It is a condition that makes controlling muscles difficult, directly impacting the person’s movement and posture in life. It is the most common physical disability in childhood.

Did you know that in Australia a child with cerebral palsy is born very 15 hours, in other word 1 in 700 babies?

Steptember is not only a great opportunity to raise vital funds for kids and adults affected by cerebral palsy, it is also a good challenge for our team.

By donating $75.00 of each of our specialised mobility walkers sold in September, we are hoping to raise money for cerebral palsy.

Bettercaremarket has 4 rollators, designed by the German manufacturer Rebotec, with Cerebral Palsy in mind. As a registered NDIS provider, we can help NDIS participants to get the mobility aid they are looking for and arrange all the paperwork for you.

Pluto Reverse Child Walker is a colourful paediatric posterior rollator and gait trainer for indoor use that supports the child from behind. It is designed to help improve children and teens with their walking and give them a sense of independence. The mobility device is equipped with two 360°swivel front wheels that allow you easily manoeuvre.

Fixi Yano Wheeled Forearm walker is a multicoloured comfortable outdoor walker for children with adjustable elbow supports. This lightweight walker provides optimal support and stability and promotes an upright posture while walking. The braking system and handles are fully integrated in the support making them easy to reach and operate.

Fixi & Fox Wheeled Walker are anterior rollators designed for children to help enhance self-confidence and independence. The engaging colours will encourage them to use the mobility aid. The rollator can be adjusted to the right height. This well-balanced walker will make your child’s life easier. It is available in two sizes.

Polo Yano Wheeled Forearm Walker is a rollator with elbow supports, a flip-up seat and large wheels that addresses the needs of those with less upper body strength. The small turning circle enables effortless mobility and optimal manoeuvrability.

If you would like to see our full range of walkers and rollators and discover which one suits you, we invite you to go to our mobility category .

We hope we will be able to contribute a lot of money to this great cause. While at the same time help people living with cerebral palsy to get the best support and equipment they need to build their independence, enhance their wellbeing and live their best lives!
