I am a mad swimmer — So I wanted to put my thoughts and write a general product review out there. I usually participate in regional competitions. Lately, I have invested in some competition swimwear from a few suppliers. I ordered a swimsuit from Pontoon sports who seems to be up and coming. The fabric was good and the design was really awesome. Like many other swimwear brands, they use a lycra-free swimwear fabric. This is so the material doesn't break down in chlorine. It sounds weird a lycra-free stretch fabric but all swimwear brands use this. Not only that they have been using it for quite a number of years.
Other standard features are the 10mm rubber around the legs and the strap over the shoulder. I love this type of cut, and a lot of the major brands are putting styles like this out now. But for me, the best thing that has happened in the last few years is the fact active swimwear has become more fashionable. As well as functional. Bright prints and better cuts mean you can go straight from training to the beach. And from a technical point of view, active swimwear is usually made better than the fashion stuff.
The next trend seems to be all about using recycled material. Some fabrics are made from recycled plastics reclaimed from the ocean. I really love this development and I think considering the waste that clothing makes, we really need to focus on sustainability. I can see a world where all consumer goods are recycled.
So back to my Pontoon Sports review they make a mean set of swimwear. They fit well and the fabric lasts. Check out their range on swimwear and grab a pair from the online store. I will test a few brands in the coming months and update my medium blog as I go. My plan is to build this out into something that will be useful to other swimmers. I will also post photos of technical specs which I think will be useful. Let's see if we can find the best mid sizes swimwear brand in Australia.
