Dog shampoos and conditioners are different from human shampoos and conditioners in many ways. For instance, dog shampoos and conditioners have different pH balance that adapts to the dog’s skin needs.
Some chemicals in our shampoos and conditioners are too harsh for our dog’s sensitive skin and coat. Remember that your dogs lick their bodies for hygiene purposes. If these harsh chemicals are present on their skin and coat, they might ingest them, which can be toxic.
We usually use tea tree oil to lessen the itchiness of our skin. While this is true for us, this should not be applied to dogs. Again, it can be toxic if dogs lick on them. However, aloe vera and oatmeal are safe to use for our beloved pet dogs.
