I want to talk about shoes for a minute i have gotten a bunch of questions over time about different things i wear and liked and find practical and useful so this is just my experiences and what i like and i'm sharing that um if you are curious about winter clothing a bunch of which you can see hanging here well some of that summer clothing actually um i did a whole video on that several years ago and i'm still pretty much wearing all the exact same stuff um anyway footwear um these i mentioned the other women walking shoes day my very wonderful fur boots um i had put the info on that one but this is not summer clothing but this is footwear.

I wear these all the time i got these five years ago now um i've been looking for a while actually inspired by a book i read um uh not about footwear but um about a couple that lived in alaska for a while or might have been northern canada anyway they lived out in the very remote northern wilderness for a long time filming wildlife and this was a book written in like the 60s or something i got at a thrift store i don't even remember the title but the lady writing the book had mentioned in there the wonderful footwear they got made by some native folks uh way up north that were fur boots and how warm they were and how she could go back and forth from their little tent hut to waiting in the creek to get their water and back and be warm inside.

But not too hot and and warm enough outside not have her feet freeze and anyway it was just kind of a side note to the main story it wasn't the point of it but it really caught my attention because i have tended to have rather poor circulation in both my hands and especially my feet for much of my life and um so the idea of having uh my feet stay really warm sounded great so i went looking for somebody who would have the skills to make that kind of you know old-fashioned original native footwear and it took me quite a few i don't know maybe a couple of years of hunting through um craftsman that i could find on etsy or any other place Girls casual shoes that i could find somebody doing that kind of thing and when i would ask about doing that kind of booth that was like hand sewn with um no no stitching that went completely through from the outside so that it was actually waterproof made with all natural materials i got a lot of people who said oh my mother knew how to do that my grandmother knew how to do that but i don't know how to do that but finally somebody referred me to shannon the wonderful lady who made these for me and she actually does know how to do that um so they're awesome they're the best money i get most of my clothing secondhand and from thrift stores um but that is one of the the most
