Union Minister of Law Kiren Rijju has replied to Rajya Sabha MP John Brittas regarding his query about the status/details of High Court Collegiums’ Proposals.

The following information was given in the reply:-

The High Court Collegiums have submitted 164 proposals.

The number of proposals that have been remitted/returned by the Government to the High Courts on the advice of the Supreme Court Collegium is 55 during the current year.

31 proposals are pending with the Supreme Court collegium.

The number of proposals with the Department of Justice which are yet to be sent to the Supreme Court collegium stands at 75.

The Supreme Court Collegium has made 35 recommendations but they are pending with the Department of Justice.

3 proposals have been submitted to the Prime Minister’s Office.

13 proposals have been submitted to the Ministry of Law and Justice.

In 2021 09 Judges have been appointed in Supreme Court and 118 Judges have been appointed in various High Courtsupto 29.11.2021.
