The goal of Industrial Water Management is to save water and improve processes. The current system is not sustainable and requires improvements. In fact, the use of water is increasing in almost every sector. The growing demand for water is contributing to the depletion of natural resources. Furthermore, the effects of climate change are causing a rapid increase in the demand for water. This leads to the need for new methods to manage water. Fortunately, the technology available today allows for improved water management.

There are four major factors that impact industrial water management. The first is how much water a facility produces. The second is how much it costs. Despite what many people think, water is not free. The wastewater generated by a factory is conditioned before it can be discharged into a receiving watercourse. The third factor is energy. The fourth is the volume of water that must be treated. While post-treatment can reduce the amount of water used for treatment, it also increases the costs of cleaning and circulation.
