Tips On How To Fix Common Furniture Problems

If your school furniture Sydney has broken, it is important to evaluate and know whether you can fix the problem or whether you need to buy new furniture. Fortunately, most furniture problems can be fixed. Fixing your furniture will save you from spending the extra money to purchase new furniture. Here are some tips for fixing common furniture problems.

Loose rungs on chairs

After years of use, chairs can suffer from their joints getting loose. Rungs will start to pop out of the legs. This will happen more frequently even with new furniture that is not constructed properly. The loose rungs should be reglued. You should start by removing the old glue.

Use sandpaper to sand the end of the rung. Insert timber glue into the space or an opening in the leg using a syringe. A syringe will let you get the glue where it is supposed to be without having to remove the rung completely. Then insert the rung and clamp your chair tight to ensure the glue dries when the chair is in the desired balance. Keep in mind that not all glues perform the same. Make sure you use glue that does a perfect job.

Wobbly chairs

No one likes to sit on a wobbly chair. In fact, you won’t be comfortable sitting on a wobbly piece of furniture. If gluing loose furniture rungs and tightening the chair does not work then you should add some right-angle corner furniture braces to your school furniture for sale. You can purchase the braces at a home improvement store or a hardware store for a couple of bucks. Make sure you buy the paintable type if you want the braces to match your chair.

You can add a brace where every leg meets the seat. In some cases, you may need to bend the brace to prevent the gap between the leg and the brace. You should ensure you drill pilot holes before you insert the screws through the brace to keep the wood from splitting.

Pieces of wood coming apart at the seams

If your furniture starts to separate at the seams where two pieces of timber come together, a simple solution will be to add flat corner braces. You can get them at hardware centers. This eliminates the need to drive screws in the seam with hopes of closing the gap.

Loose legs

School chairs go through a lot of abuse. Students drag the chairs on the flow, jump on them and throw them from one place to another. When people drag chairs instead of picking them up, they put a lot of pressure on the legs. This can cause the legs to come off. Some people try to drive screws through the furniture into the leg. However, this doesn’t secure the leg but it splits the wood hence causing more problems.

If you have school furniture Sydney CBD with loose legs, the best way to fix the furniture is to use glue. You can apply glue to clamp the legs firmly in place. You can also use fasteners to secure the lags.
