How to Clean Air Fryer Oven Like Ninja Foodi SP101

So you got an Ninja Foodi SP101 Air Fryer Oven ? It's great that this popular kitchen appliance allows us to enjoy all our favorite fried foods with less fat and fewer calories. But it also means there would be the after-cooking left behind grease to deal with afterwards.

How to properly clean the Ninja Foodi SP101 Oven ?

The good news? Using Ninja SP101 air fryer means there is less greasy residue to clean than you would using a deep fryer.

According the the Ninja Care Specialists, they recommend the following steps for deep cleaning :

1. Unplug the unit from the outlet and allow it to cool down before cleaning.

2. Remove all accessories from the unit, including the crumb tray, and wash separately. Use a non-abrasive cleaning brush to more thoroughly wash the air fry basket.

3. Flip up the oven into the storage position.

4. Press the push button to release the back door to access the oven’s interior.

5. Use warm, soapy water and a soft cloth to wash the oven’s interior. DO NOT use abrasive cleaners, scrubbing brushes, or chemical cleaners, as they will damage the oven.

How To Deal With Grease That Will Not Easily Come Off

You may ask : "Ok, now I know accessing the inside is easy enough. But many have shared that the cooked-on grease WILL NOT come off."

A dirty air fryer may lead to food particles getting stuck in places they're not supposed to, which could cause problems inside the appliance. A bit of dish soap and water may not be the best way to clean an air fryer. Even the homemade mixture of baking soda and water can take 30 minutes to an hour (and quite a bit of elbow grease) to start removing gunk.

Never use metal utensils, steel wool, or abrasive sponges to remove any stuck-on food or to clean the air fryer basket or pans. These can damage the non-stick coating.

Some users recommend to use Simple Green All-Purpose Cleaner. It is a cleaner, degreaser, and deodorizer that can clean grease from the air fryer basket and trays, as well as remove grime and stains from both the inside and outside of the appliance. The formula will not leave behind chemicals that could be absorbed by your food.

These are the steps if you choose to use this cleaner on your Ninja Foodi SP101.

  1. Clean the interior of the Ninja air fryer. Spray full-strength Simple Green onto a clean, damp cloth or sponge to clean the interior. If you come across any stuck-on food, scrub the spot with a soft sponge or soft bristle brush. Follow up with a plain damp cloth.
  2. Check the coil. Wipe down the coiled heating element with full strength Simple Green to remove any residue or oil. Again, follow that with a plain damp cloth.
  3. Wash the removable pieces. Wash the pans, trays, and baskets by hand or in the dishwasher as usual. Remember to check your instruction manual to make sure your components are dishwasher-safe.
  4. If necessary, soak in a Simple Green solution. If any of the washable parts have baked-on grease on them, mix hot water with Simple Green in your sink. Soak for about 10 minutes. Then remove the softened pieces with a scrub brush and rinse clean.
  5. Dry completely. Make sure the pans, trays, and basket are completely dry before replacing them in the air fryer.
