10 teams will participate in 70 games over 64 days to clinch the trophy. With the inclusion of two new teams, IPL gets bigger, bolder, and edgier. All the league matches will be conducted in a single hub in Mumbai and Pune. Wankhede Stadium, Brabourne Stadium, DY Patil Stadium, and MCA Stadium in Pune are ready to host these games. While Mumbai grounds are red soil, Pune stadium is made of black soil.
Wankhede Stadium
Toss plays a crucial role in this Mumbai stadium adjacent to the Arabian Sea. The summer evenings in India will make pitches slow as the event progress. All teams will prefer to field first and chase later as short boundaries and dew are likely to play a prominent role. The chasing side has won the last 10 games out of 13. While the spinners find it difficult to bowl, pacers will have a gala time. Fast bowlers will be able to get early wickets with the new ball if they manage to pick proper lengths.
Brabourne Stadium
No T20 has been played since 2015, but similar to Wankhede, this stadium is expected to produce high-scoring games. Spinners will play an important role in this stadium, unlike Wankhede, due to the quick outfield and larger boundaries. The team batting first has won six times in the last nine matches.
DY Patil Stadium
This stadium has a big boundary size compared to the other Mumbai venues. The last IPL game played at this ground was in 2011, and no professional T20 games have been played since then.
MCA Stadium
This stadium in Pune has black soil and is entirely different from the Mumbai grounds. With conditions favoring the spinners, this ground offers a lot for spin bowling.
