ICE EngTech Professional Review Process

To become a professional civil engineering technician, you must know what process you have to go through. What is ICE EngTech Professional Review?

The Technician Professional Review is the last stage to becoming professionally eligible.

It is a chance for you to prove that you can use proven techniques and procedures to sort out practical issues. Your eligibility will be evaluated against the attributes necessary at the engineering technician (EngTech) level.

The process has two steps:

The first one is the application submission, and the second one is the Professional Review interview.

Professional Review submission:

For this step, you have to send the authority many documents that include your completed application form with some documents including your continuing professional development records.

You need to show how you used to achieve the attributes necessary for an engineering technician, within the application form.

What happens after that?

Having sent your application, the authority will give you the names of your reviewers and the details of your interview.

Professional Review Interview:

Usually, it takes 45 minutes if you have approved academic qualifications, and 60 minutes if you don’t. You have the option to give a five-minute presentation at the beginning of the interview.

This interview will be nothing but a discussion with your reviewers based on both the content of your presentation if living one, and all aspects of the information given in your application. The reviewer will pay attention to confirm that you satisfy all of the attributes at the English level.

As a probable professional civil engineering technician, you need to have a sound knowledge and understanding of your role in the activities and the construction process that are connected whether that be the construction, design, use, operation, maintenance or demolition of any works. You need to understand the safety implications of the role and perform tasks taking safety into account.

To be positively assessed, you need to show your competence in all of the areas given below, but the depth and extent of your experience and eligibility will be different according to the nature and needs of your role.
