The Four Stages in Reverse Osmosis System:

If you are in search of good taste and 100% pure drinking water, then you must choose reverse osmosis filtration plant to cleanse your water to make it more quality. Reverse osmosis system is very simple to install and the filtration is fully automated. By applying pressure to a solution while it's on one side of a selective membrane, reverse osmosis (RO) removes many types of large molecules and irons from solutions. Pressure creates a barrier between the pressurized solute & the pure solvent, preventing the latter from passing through. And there are main four stages in this reverse osmosis system, let’s discuss in detail.

The four main stages of Reverse osmosis filtration plant system is as follows:

l Sediment pre-filter

l Carbon filter

l Reverse osmosis membrane

l Polishing filter

1. Sediment Pre-Filter:

Dust, rust and sediment particles can be removed down to 5 microns with melt blown polypropylene. Various sediment cartridges exist.

2. Carbon Pre-Filter:

A Coconut Shell Carbon Block Cartridge, 10 Micron, removes chlorine, taste, odor, and other contaminants from water. There is an average filtration capability of 0.5 to 10 microns with activated carbon block filters. The process can be used for particulate filtration, to remove chlorine taste and odor, to reduce insoluble lead, and to remove Giardia and Cryptosporidium. The third housing of a 5-stage reverse osmosis system holds a carbon block cartridge that is added to the system.

3. Reverse Osmosis Membrane:

Using a thin film composite, 95% of Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) is rejected (removed) away from the product down to .0001 microns. The thin film composite membrane (TFC or TFM) is a semi permeable membrane used primarily for water purification. Additionally, they are used in chemical applications such as batteries and fuel cells.

4. Polishing Filter

The final polishing filter (carbon filter) takes place before you use the water after it has been stored in the storage tank. A reverse osmosis system's membrane housing is usually fitted with an inline post filter. After the other cartridges or membranes have removed chlorine or contaminants, the post filter removes any remaining contaminants.
