As seems to have become tradition in recent years, the Resident Evil 7 rumour mill has begun turning again as we approach one of the year's biggest gaming trade shows.

This time, Japan-based industry analyst Serkan Toto is claiming that the game will be announced at E3 in June.

Discussion surrounding a new Resident Evil game has ramped up in recent weeks, since Capcom revealed that as part of the Resident Evil series' 20th anniversary celebrations, it is planning a "full-scale offensive" for the second half of 2016.

A multiplayer shooter called Umbrella Corps and remasters of Resident Evil 4 and 5, made for current consoles.

Resident Evil 6 was released in 2012 proved a huge commercial success despite being widely panned by critics and fans alike.

Were Capcom to announce the game at E3, the likely venue would be either Microsoft or Sony's press conferences – which respectively are taking place on Monday 13 June at 5:30pm BST and Tuesday 14 June in the early hours at 2am BST.
