The idea of returning to a pre-Covid-19 world of crowds and large gatherings may seem a little daunting in the current climate of social isolation and lockdown restrictions. However, the idea of engaging in any kind of social interaction can be overwhelming for individuals who suffer from severe social anxiety.


In the past, the patient would have to physically enter the environments that evoke feelings of anxiety and fear in order to confront those situations, which can be particularly unpleasant. An alternative treatment for social anxiety has, however, emerged as virtual reality headsets have advanced and become more accessible to the average consumer.


We learn more about how patients are using virtual reality to face their fears from the safety of their own homes.
