Forget smartphones, HTC now wants to take you to places you never dreamed possible.

Its new Vive virtual reality headset has just gone on sale and these gadget goggles are the future of a night indoors.

From the comfort of your sofa you can hit a virtual golf course, smash a volley on the tennis court, head deep under the ocean or even deeper into space.

One of the reasons you ll need this space is the Vive is the only headset that allows users to move around the room.

GOGGLES: The Vive is comfortable to wear

Two sensors keep track of where you're meandering and warn you when you re getting close to walking head-first into a wall.

IN CONTROL: The Vive features two wireless controllers SET-UP: Although the Vive looks complicated you can be up and running in 20 minutes

However, VR is still in its infancy and the potential for this new platform is massive.
