
Tesla and japanese Panasonic has now formally signed a contract to begin production of solar cells and modules at a plant in Buffalo in the state of New York.
the Production of the first modules is expected to take place in the summer of 2017 and will then be expanded to 1 gigawatt by 2019, writes Panasonic in a press release.
the Plan is that Tesla will make use of photovoltaic cells from Panasonic in the sunroof that has been presented during the autumn.

Solarcity, which is now owned by just Tesla, has previously said it would create over 1,400 jobs in Buffalo, which include 500 in production.
