Just under two years ago, we learned that Amazon would be making an original television show based on the popular 1999 sci-fi movie hit Galaxy Quest.
The show, which was being shopped around by Paramount, was eventually picked up by Amazon Studios, but it derailed at some point in the past, slowing to a stall.
That has changed, according to a new report, as Amazon has tapped a new writer to take over the project.
The first time around, Amazon had planned for the movie’s writer Robert Gordon to write the series, but that job has been given over to Paul Scheer, a writer and comedian.
Movie producer Mark Johnson is still in the pipeline to serve as executive producer, according to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, but there’s no word on whether Dean Parisot is still set to direct the series.
Scheer is no stranger to writing comedy, having worked on things like Fresh Off the Boat, VEEP, and Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later.
