While Marvel is gearing up to premiere the culmination of ten years of movies with this week’s Avengers: Infinity War, Sony has been rather quietly plugging away with its feature film based on Venom, one of Spider-Man’s most popular enemies.
The film’s first teaser trailer premiered back in February, but unfortunately, we didn’t get to see Venom himself – merely Eddie Brock, who acts as a host for the Venom symbiote.
That all changes today with the first official trailer for Venom, which finally shows us what we all want to see.
Yes indeed, this new trailer shows Venom rather than just Eddie Brock, but not before giving us a little bit of backstory.
As it turns out, Sony seems to have worked out a Spider-Man free origin for Venom, with the symbiote that bonds with Brock being discovered by a shady businessman who uses it in human testing.
Eddie Brock, who works as a journalist for the Daily Bugle, takes it upon himself to investigate the lab experimenting with this symbiote.
