Reasons to Not Login From Somebody Else’s Apple ID

If you own any Apple device, then you must be having an Apple ID. An Apple ID is a virtual license that allows you to navigate iDevices. Each Apple device user has their unique Apple ID. It is not advised to use anybody else’s Apple ID.

Also, you should not give access to your Apple ID to anybody. When you do so, you will lose access to all of your connected iDevices, information, subscriptions, etc. However, let’s explore the reason why you should not use anybody else’s Apple ID on your device.

Here is an example:

Jamie bought a brand-new iPhone XR just a week after it hit the shelves. But, last month, he decided to switch to iPhone XS Max. At first, she considered selling the XR on a website. Since the iPhone was relatively new and in decent condition, he decided to sell it at a reasonable price.

Within hours of putting up the ad online, he started getting messages from potential buyers. One man sent him a message that he really wished to purchase the iPhone for his teenage daughter, but owing to his work schedule, he will be unable to pick it up until next Tuesday. However, he loved how the iPhone was scratch-free and looked almost new, and he wished to pay a token amount.

In order to see that the iPhone was working alright, the man asked Jamie to key in his daughter’s Apple ID into the iPhone. Jamie was happy – he had thought he would have to wait for a while to get a potential buyer, but it happened only within hours. The man messaged the Apple ID credentials of his daughter. Jamie considered him to be careless regarding sharing important information with a complete stranger. However, he shrugged it off and logged into the new Apple ID from his iPhone.

Now, something much unexpected occurred. Jamie’s iPhone screen displayed a message stating that the phone is blocked. He was asked to contact a particular email to unblock it.

The man stopped replying to Jamie’s message. When Jamie sent an email to the email ID mentioned on the blocked iPhone’s screen, he was asked to pay some cryptocurrency to get the phone unlocked.

Be wary of strangers having Apple IDs

When a user allows anybody to log in with their Apple Id, they are completely surrendering the device’s ownership. The other person may be a malicious criminal, who can block the iPhone with the help of iCloud’s Find My iPhone function.

This feature is created to stop strangers who have the lost or stolen iPhone in possession from going through the data, and to show the contacts on the display so that the finder can get in touch with the owner.
