Behind the limelight, the entertainment industry has always been a messy, sometimes even ugly one.

But perhaps few expected that mess to extend even to movie theaters and tickets.

MoviePass subscribers have suddenly found themselves unable to use the service to purchase tickets at certain AMC theaters, and neither MoviePass nor AMC seem to be willing to give a direct answer as to why.

The relationship between MoviePass and AMC has always been rocky.

MoviePass’ business model, which let moviegoers buy a single ticket per day for a flat monthly subscription fee, may not have sat well with many movie theater companies, AMC included.

The two eventually came to an agreement, but it seems it was short-lived.

AMC is trying to appeal to the MoviePass crowd with a "sustainable" price plan.

The company's new Stubs A-List program costs $20 (plus tax) a month for three movies a week.

It offers features MoviePass has since dropped, such as multiple viewings per day and repeat viewings, plus you can use it for IMAX, Dolby Cinema, RealD 3D, Prime and BigD showings.

This move comes after MoviePass dropped AMC from its theater list when AMC tried to block it and the company issued a press release saying it would consult its lawyers to prevent MoviePass subscribers from seeing movies in its theaters.

The subscription is part of the company's AMC Stubs loyalty program, so you get those benefits -- VIP service, savings on snacks and no online ticketing fees -- as well as a pass on the $15 Premiere annual fee.

You can book online in advance and get reserved seating via app or web, for any AMC-branded theater in the US.

It was just a matter of time before AMC went head to head with MoviePass.

After all, the two companies have been at odds for some time.

Back in January, MoviePass dropped out of 10 of the theater chain’s highest traffic theaters in what was seen as a negotiating tactic.

But AMC had no interest in playing ball.

The company had already publicly stated that it had “no intention[…]of sharing any […] admissions revenue,” one of many signs that it was working on its own version of the subscription service.

That response arrives June 26, in the form of AMC Stubs A-List, an add-on to the company’s loyalty program.

With MoviePass circling the drain thanks to an untenable business strategy (which led to steep stock drops for parent company Helios & Matheson), AMC has announced a new program which allows users to see three movies each week for a monthly fee of $19.95.

The program, called AMC Stubs A-List, is an extension of AMC’s existing loyalty program, AMC Stubs Premiere.

It officially kicks off on June 26.

In addition to ticketing discounts, members will enjoy discounts on concessions at theaters and won’t have to pay online ticketing fees.

Unlike MoviePass, users won’t be restricted from seeing specific films or specific formats; 3D, IMAX, and even AMC Dine-In theaters are included.

Users can also make up to three reservations simultaneously, as opposed to MoviePass (where you’re limited to one).

While at least one main cast member will be done by the end of the season 7 premiere episode of The Walking Dead, others will live on for some time, as AMC has officially renewed the series for an eighth season, set to premiere in late 2017, Variety reports.

The renewal surprises no one, considering that The Walking Dead is a ratings pull for AMC, and has a massive legion of loyal fans.

The season 6 finale, which aired in March, reportedly brought in 18.4 million viewers, based on Nielsen numbers for live 3, making it the No.

1 TV show among adults aged 18-49.

The eighth season, which will most certainly involve a host of new cast members and some noticeably missing faces, will include 16 episodes, and will continue to be followed up by the post-show talk show, Talking Dead, hosted by Chris Hardwick.

It s clear AMC has high hopes for its upcoming season 7 premiere.

MoviePass and the AMC Theatres chain have never exactly enjoyed a rosy relationship, and the latest step in their conflict came today, as MoviePass pulled support from some of the chain’s most high-profile locations.

Deadline reports that the service is no longer supporting ticket purchases at theaters like the AMC Empire 25 in New York, Universal City Walk near Los Angeles, and the AMC Loews Boston Common.

Many exhibitors have been receptive to this mission, and we’re excited to keep working with theater chains that are closely aligned with our customer service values.” The statement goes on to clarify that the list of participating theaters is subject to change, and MoviePass customers should consult the mobile app for updates to that list.

AMC and MoviePass have been publicly at odds since the subscription service drastically cut its monthly subscription price in August 2017.

(The company previously relied on a tiered model that scaled monthly pricing from $15 to $50 based on region, much like movie ticket prices can vary from one locale to another.)

The chain’s logic has been straightforward, however: mass adoption of a subscription service like MoviePass could effectively change the perceived value of movies, resulting in a situation where theatrical exhibitors wouldn’t be able to charge enough to keep their own businesses afloat.

p YouTube TV, a skinny bundle of TV networks users can stream for a monthly fee, is adding new channels, bringing the total to 43.

The AMC collection of networks, which includes AMC, IFC, BBC America, Sundance and WEtv, is now available to stream.

YouTube TV was the first major bundle to include all the broadcast networks, ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC, as well as news and entertainment networks from FOX and NBCU, and a dozen sports networks.

Also new to the service, two Spanish-language networks from NBCU, Telemundo and Universo.

It offers subscribers 40 channels and a Hulu subscription for $39.99 per month, but currently doesn’t provide that specific bundle of AMC Networks.

It took YouTube more than a month to secure those rights, so the AMC bundle might make its way over to Hulu some time soon.

AMC Theatres is working with Facebook to allow US users to find and buy movie tickets without leaving the social network first.

Using a new ticketing platform recently launched on Facebook, you'll be able to search movies by location and showtime from the "movies" tab under your Explore options.

Once you've settled on a showing, you'll be able to choose AMC for ticketing and get redirected to the theater chain's site to complete the purchase.

AMC is the first theatre exhibitor to work directly with Facebook, although it joins integrations with Fandango and Atom Tickets.

The service will be available at a handful of AMC locations nationwide, and it will be available at all AMC locations in the coming days, according to a statement from an AMC spokesman.

The partnership follows last month's launch of AMC's Stubs A-List subscription program that costs $20 (plus tax) a month for three movies a week.

Bidding a fond — and frequently bloody — farewell to characters on The Walking Dead has become a tradition of sorts for fans of AMC’s popular zombie drama series.

And yet, the potential departure of one particular character has sent tremors through the show’s fanbase and led to questions about whether the long-running series can survive without him.

Former sheriff Rick Grimes, the character played by Andrew Lincoln who has led the series’ ragtag group of survivors through countless threats from both humans and living dead, is rumored to be ending his run on The Walking Dead with the upcoming season 9.

As initially reported by Collider, Lincoln is rumored to appear in only six episodes of the upcoming season.

With the eighth-season exit of cast member Chandler Riggs, who played Rick’s son in the series, Lincoln is now the last remaining cast member from the series premiere to have an active role in the show.

According to the unconfirmed (and therefore, unofficial) report, actor Norman Reedus is being courted as a potential replacement for Lincoln as the series lead due to the popularity of his character, Daryl Dixon.

The Google-owned service on Monday added nearly half a dozen new channels to its base package including fan-favorites like AMC and BBC America.

They join Spanish-language channels Telemundo and Universo which appear to have been added a couple of weeks ago.

The new additions bring the total number of channels in the base package to 46.

The Hollywood Reporter has broke the news that Danai Gurira, who plays the badass, samurai sword-wielding Michonne on AMC’s The Walking Dead, has signed a deal to end her run on the show.

She’ll appear in the current season, which comes back for its second half Sunday night, and then only appear in a limited capacity for season 10, which starts in October.

According to the report, part of the deal includes her appearing in one or more of the three Rick Grimes movies AMC is planning, spinning off from the show.

In recent seasons, Rick and Michonne were romantically involved and surrogate parents to Judith but we’re still not sure where those projects will lead.

Two characters that won’t be leaving anytime soon are Darryl (Norman Reedus) and Carol (Melissa McBride), who both reportedly signed massive “franchise/universe” deals for the series.

Meaning, they can appear in other shows, movies, or whatever AMC and the team have cooked up.

The adaptation is being penned by Shawn Ryan The Shield and Eileen Myers.

I read David s story, The Night of the Gun, when it came out and was wildly entertained by his saga.

I hope to do justice to David s intellect and his scrappy nature.

Joel Stillerman, AMC and SundanceTV s president of original programming and development, also highlighted the memoir s many strengths, calling it simultaneously heartbreaking, funny, and inspirational.

The actor will executive produce alongside his producing partner Marc Provissiero, Ryan, Myers, Joshua Astrachan, and Marney Hochman.
