“Spark is about storytelling, helping everyone communicate their ideas visually,” the company writes in today’s announcement.

“And our users love how easy it is to create graphics, web pages, and videos.

But we all want to tell our story in a way that is uniquely ours — injecting our own identity, look and feel, and personality into what we create.”

Adobe says the Spark apps have now been downloaded more than 20 million times and that the service has 7 million users.

The company notes that today’s launch is in reaction to its customers’ requests, who want to use the service to promote their brands on the various platforms it supports.

If you’re still having issues with a slow Lightroom Classic, an update is coming in February that should address the problem.

Adobe launched the latest version of its popular photo editing and management software last fall, and for the first time split it between Lightroom Classic (essentially Lightroom 7 for desktops) and Lightroom CC, a lighter, mobile-oriented version of the software that has fewer features than Classic.

Having listened to complaints from photographers about the sometimes sluggish performance of Lightroom 6, Adobe had promised speed improvements with Lightroom Classic.

But soon after its launch, it quickly became apparent that some users were still experiencing issues regarding the software’s ability to handle certain tasks in an efficient manner.

An update released in December 2017 addressed many of the bugs that troubled the launch version of Classic, but the speed of the software continued to bother a number of photographers.

The good news is that version 7.2 is imminent and looks set to properly enhance the operation of the Adobe-made software.

Software giant Adobe has launched its first U.S. agency review in more than a decade, seeking a new partner to handle its media planning and buying duties.

According to multiple people with knowledge of the matter, the San Jose, Calif.-based company is currently moving through the RFI process.

Goodby Silverstein & Partners has been creative agency of record for Adobe since beating out Deutsch and others in a late 2001 review.

During the nearly 16-year relationship, GS eventually picked up media duties while creating such memorable campaigns as 2016’s Bond-style “Secret Agent” and the more recent comedic “The Heist.”

The current review is said to concern only media and will therefore not affect GS’s creative responsibilities.

It is not known which agencies will be competing for the business.

Sketch is trying to frame it as a positive move for late adopters.

Here s its phraseology in announcing the change:

Until now, it has been our custom to release a major version of Sketch 2.0, 3.0, etc every couple of years as a paid upgrade, with minor updates 3.1, 3.2, etc for free in between.

If you re working collaboratively with another designer or developer, that could be a problem.

Many good extensions in Sketch s official library are already paid ones, but only a few are ones I d consider necessary to most users.

The uneasiness can likely be quelled with a cleverly managed update cycle, but Sketch isn t promising anything probably in part because it doesn t want users gaming its system by upgrading when it s advantageous to receive new upgrades .

Adobe is hosting its Max conference this week — and as usual, it’s using the event to show off some of its latest experiments.

Indeed, Adobe even has a special keynote just to show off its craziest demos, but the company apparently has so much to show, that it decided to demo one prototype early: Project SonicScape.

The idea here is simple: how can VR/AR editors best edit their sound in this 3D environment.

The solution is as simple as it is ingenious: you simply visualize the sound right in the 3D space.

“Project SonicScape takes the guesswork out of the immersive content editing experience by visualizing where the audio is, it’s frequency and intensity, and therefore making it that much easier to bring immersive content to life,” an Adobe spokesperson told us.

Given that this is very much a visual project, your time is probably best spent just looking at Adobe’s video explainer below.

An absent-minded security staffer just accidentally leaked Adobe's private PGP key onto the internet.

The disclosure was spotted by security researcher Juho Nurminen – who found the key ion the Photoshop giant's Product Security Incident Response Team blog.

That contact page should have only included the public PGP key.

Adobe has not returned a request for comment on the matter, possibly because it has slightly more pressing concerns at the moment.

Namely, key rotation and internal public-private key education.

It has also torn down its private key from the security blog.

InVision’s made a name for itself with its suite of tools for prototyping and collaborating on mobile and web design projects; it’s now taking things a step further with the launch of Studio, a desktop app for designing responsive apps and sites from start to finish.

With its new app for MacOS and Windows, the company hopes to take the fight to popular design software like Sketch and Adobe XD.

Studio features an array of tools for designing for screens, as well as the ability to add in animations and transitions, and an intelligent engine that helps you create responsive layouts.

You can also share your work and get feedback from colleagues, share components with others, and buy design element kits from InVision’s store right within the app.

That sounds neat, but InVision will have its work cut out for it in encouraging established designers to switch from Sketch or Adobe’s offerings.

Besides having to get used to a new interface, they’ll also have to think about the challenge of leaving the cloud ecosystems of those rival apps.

It’ll let you in on a little secret about photography – virtually everything you see in a commercial capacity has gone through some form of post-processing enhancement.

While there are still plenty of photographers that strive to “get it right” in the camera, it can be nearly impossible to avoid a time-consuming run through Adobe Lightroom or Photoshop – especially if you’re going for an artistic, dramatic or otherwise unnatural effect.

Research from Adobe and Cornell University, however, may soon result in the minimization of how much time you’ll need to devote to post-processing such images.

The duo developed a technique called deep photo style transfer that builds upon recent work on painterly transfer.

Simply put, the tool can seamlessly transfer the style of a source image – things like the time of day, weather, season and artistic edits – and apply them to a vastly different image.

For example, you could take a picture of a city skyline in brightly-lit, less than ideal conditions, feed the tool an image of a beautiful night skyline and have those ‘effects’ transferred over to your original image.
