The International Game Developers Association (IGDA) has promoted Jen MacLean as its permanent executive director for the world’s largest organization serving game creators.

MacLean was previously interim executive director, replacing previous head Kate Edwards.

In addition, Kongregate CEO Emily Greer and Big Huge Games lead producer Zoe Bell have joined the IGDA board of directors.

Vesa Raudasoja, who was elected to the board in 2016, will become vice chair.

With barriers to entry into game development at an all-time low, the IGDA said that MacLean’s focus during her term as executive director will be to grow the IGDA into an organization that empowers developers from all walks of life and all corners of the globe to lead successful, fulfilling careers in the industry.

She will unveil the IGDA’s major initiatives in support of this goal at the Game Developers Conference, the big developer event in March in San Francisco.

Finnish game developer Koukoi Games and FoxNext Games are launching the mobile game Ferdinand: Unstoppabull as part of a larger transmedia campaign by Twentieth Century Fox to launch an animated film about Ferdinand the Bull.

FoxNext Games is on a roll in mobile since it decided to put a bigger strategic investment in the game business.

Oulu, Finland: Koukoi Games, which is also the developer of Crashing Season, created the game as a tie-in puzzle game.

The Ferdinand movie debuts on December 15.

The iOS and Android title has an auto-play mechanic, and loveable characters from the Ferdinand movie.

The first time I merged a kitty cat into another, I was immediately rewarded with a new type, the kitten.

But it took two kittens to make a sneaky cat, and four kittens to make a Japanese bobtail.

It’s an idle clicker game where the goal is to match cats to breed more cats and use the money each cat makes to buy even more, until your photo gallery is filled up with rare species.

But to me, this difficulty in getting to the next 20 rare and unobtainable cats is what makes Cat Condo an appealing game to open during my subway commute.

In Neko Atsume, cats have the free will to walk in and out, and their only job is to look cute.

Slowly, you’ll amass quadrillions of dollars, as you merge one cat into another, creating increasingly rare cats.
