Apple's new MacBook Air starts at $1199, which is $200 more than what the old MacBook Air starts at.

But in a move that's perhaps a little confusing to consumers, the old MacBook Air will remain in the MacBook Air line and retain its $999 starting price.

The new MacBook Air has a high-resolution Retina display, is a little lighter and has other performance enhancements.

All things considered, it makes sense to pay the extra $200 to get it if you're in the market for a MacBook Air.

However, we do expect to see significant discounts on the old MacBook Air at retailers like Best Buy that may make it more tempting.

In other words, don't buy the old MacBook Air at full list price.

Surprise, the MacBook Air is still alive!

The new MacBook Air is Apple s new cheap laptop.

While everybody thought the 12-inch retina MacBook was going to replace the MacBook Air, it s not going to be the case just yet.

Apple just updated the MacBook Air page on its website after its press event.

While the 11-inch MacBook Air is gone forever R.I.P.

, the 13-inch MacBook Air just received a minor update — more RAM.

Apple finally updated its MacBook Air last October.

The 2018 MacBook Air features a Retina display for the first time, two USB-C ports, a headphone jack, and more.

But if you're considering the 2018 MacBook Air, you may as well consider the 13-inch MacBook Pro (with no Touch Bar), which only costs $100 more than the new MacBook Air, but offers better features.

Take a look at the advantages the 13-inch MacBook Pro without Touch Bar has over the 2018 MacBook Air.

The MacBook Air features an standard RGB display, which was featured on all iPhones prior to the iPhone 7.

The MacBook Pro display can get much brighter than the MacBook Air screen.

Apple is reportedly working on a new design for its MacBook Air that will include the return of MagSafe charging. Bloomberg News reports that the updated MacBook Air may appear later this year or in 2022, and is designed to be thinner and lighter than the existing model.

Apple may make the MacBook Air smaller thanks to reduced bezels on the 13-inch screen, and will reportedly include two USB 4 ports on the laptop. Apple is also likely to include the next generation of its ARM-based processors inside this new MacBook Air, after introducing the M1 on the existing MacBook Air in November.

According to a report from Bloomberg, Apple has been working on multiple new Macs.

In particular, Apple could be planning to release a new entry-level laptop to replace the aging MacBook Air.

While Apple has released a 12-inch retina MacBook, it’s not nearly as cheap as the MacBook Air.

And yet, the MacBook Air is arguably Apple’s most popular laptop design in recent years.

Many MacBook Air users are still using their trusty device as there isn’t a clear replacement in the lineup right now.

According to Bloomberg, the updated MacBook Air could get a retina display.

Apple updates MacBook Air with Retina display, Touch ID

That changed today with the introduction of the new MacBook Air (which includes updates like a Retina display, Touch ID, and Apple's butterfly keyboard) and a new Mac mini (which got a big spec bump with quad- and hexa-core processors).

The MacBook Air began showing its age long before the 12-inch MacBook and the new MacBook Pros entered Apple's laptop lineup.

But the stale, circa-2010 design is almost gone now (keyword almost), as the new MacBook Air takes notes from its more expensive siblings.

Despite the various ways Apple managed to shrink the device, it still felt like a MacBook Air in my hands.

But the fact that the new MacBook Air has a Retina display will be enough to make fans swoon.

If you've got a MacBook Air, you'd be smart to make sure it's protected.

The aluminum chassis on the laptop helps keep it stable and light, but the MacBook Air won't look nearly as nice if that metal gets scratched or dented.

That's where a MacBook Air case, skin or sleeve can come in.

We haven’t had a chance to test all of these cases ourselves, but don’t worry – we here at TechRadar are both Mac and accessory experts, and we’ve used our tech expertise to find the MacBook Air cases on the market right now.

And, because we’ve included our exclusive price comparison tool, you can be confident that you’re getting the best MacBook Air case deal on the internet.

Mosiso's MacBook Air case is an excellent option for the 13-inch laptop.

To the fanfare of MacBook Air fans, Apple finally released a new MacBook Air with updated specs, features, and design in 2018.

There was some unforeseen rain that hit the MacBook Air parade when the laptop's $1,200 price tag was announced.

The original model cost $1,000, which was one of its main draws.

With that said, there are still some very good reasons to consider the MacBook Air over the MacBook Pro.

Since the MacBook Air has a 13-inch display, I'm mostly comparing it to the 13-inch MacBook Pro.

It's not a massively significant difference, but lighter is better for many computer users out there.

After a busy fall announcement season, Apple has unveiled what’s expected to be the last of its hardware refreshes this year with the introduction of a new iPad Pro, MacBook Air, and Mac mini.

The MacBook Air finally got a refresh after years of MacBook Pro updates.

The 2018 MacBook Air now has 13.3-inch Retina display, third-gen butterfly keyboard, Touch ID, and 50 percent narrower bezels.

It weighs just a little less than the current MacBook Air, down from 2.96 pounds to 2.75 pounds.

The new MacBook Air will also be available in the new colors that have been previously available with the latest MacBooks.

The laptop costs $1,199 for the 8GB RAM / 128GB SSD configuration.

Apple upgraded its MacBook Air and MacBook Pro laptops on Tuesday, but it looks like two notebooks have vanished from the company's site.

The smallest of the MacBooks and the cheapest MacBook Air are now gone.

The $999 MacBook Air released in 2018 and the 12-inch MacBook are no longer available on Apple's website as of Tuesday.

It appears the Mac maker will have the updated $1,099 MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro as the new entry-level notebooks.

First released in 2015, the 13-inch MacBook Air was the cheaper notebook Apple offered with the starting price of $999.

The thin laptop received annual updates until 2017 with improvements to its Intel processor while keeping the sub-$1000 price tag.

When Apple first debuted the newly redesigned MacBook Air in 2018, I quickly reacted rather strongly to the laptop’s price and specifications.

The original MacBook Air, after all, had been the most affordable laptop for years, only to be revived at an inaccessible price.

However, Apple has grown quite aggressive with pricing the 2019 MacBook Air model soon after its release this season, just as it did shortly after launching the original MacBook Air.

Not only did Apple bring the standard price down by $100 or £100 in July, now the laptop is available for just $999 to start on the company’s online store.

If you can find the 2019 MacBook Air for just $899 or similarly priced elsewhere, you’re looking at a fine - dare we say premium - laptop with some luxury features and just enough processing power for basic computing tasks and forms of entertainment.

The MacBook Air is well positioned to once again become as accessible of a path into Apple’s computing world as it once was.

Although Apple still could still reveal a new MacBook Air during the company’s developers conference in June, component suppliers claim Apple won’t go into production on the new model until the second half of 2018.

Not only will customers not see a new MacBook Air until the back half of 2018, but components suppliers already have the necessary parts poised and ready for Apple’s picking.

Thus, these companies have a high material inventory and really have no room for additional components until the MacBook Air goes into production.

According to supply chain sources, Apple provided no reason for the MacBook Air delay.

Given the new MacBook Air production is now aligned with the next iPhone, we wouldn’t be surprised if the new MacBook Air will have a configuration with built-in LTE connectivity to combat the new “always connected” Windows 10 PCs.

These will likely be the “U” chips given that they’re designed for low power consumption in ultra-thin laptops.

Apple is finally bringing a much-needed overhaul to its MacBook Air, its most affordable MacBook.

Sure, there have been internal upgrades — such as the 2017 MacBook Air which saw a miniscule processor update — but it didn’t stop the MacBook Air from looking like a laptop from, well, 2015.

The MacBook Air (2018) is an improvement in every way, bringing long-requested features such as a Retina display and Touch ID.

There’s also a stunning gold finish that will draw eyes from across the cafe.

There’s a nice lip at the center bottom half of the MacBook Air that makes the laptop incredibly easy to open with one finger, and the rubberized pads on the bottom make sure it stays still.

How does that compare to Apple’s more premium MacBooks?
