Currently existing wireless communication systems can provide either stable and highly reliable connection with low data transmission speed (e.g.

radio signal) or high-speed but unreliable connection via a laser channel.

The efficiency of a laser channel depends greatly on weather conditions, such as fogs and snow falls, which reduce the stability of server connection.

In order to be able to create technologies combining high speed and reliability, RUDN mathematicians developed a model of a simple system consisting of two unreliable servers and one common queue for waiting customers.

After analyzing such a hybrid model the scientists demonstrated that heterogeneity of servers helps to increase speed and reliability of data transmission systems.

We've also carried out quantity evaluation of the influence of various parameters on such reliability characteristics and found out what values are required for optimal system operation," says Dmitry Efrosinin, the author of the work, PhD in physics and mathematics, assistant professor at the department of the probability theory and mathematical statistics.

Most of the available communication systems give a flat coverage and do not take into account the difference in altitude, which results in the appearance of the so-called "blind" zones.

Flying drones will help in solving this issue.

The work is published in the journal IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology.

We simulate a communication system using drones, taking into account many features of the real life situation, including random distances between simulation objects (from drones to users, for instance).

The approach itself - the use of unmanned aerial vehicles - will increase the coverage of the cellular network by about 40%, " says Konstantin Samuylov, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Head of Applied Informatics and Probability Theory Department, RUDN University.

A data center is a system of servers, and their task is to provide computing resources and disk space at the request of users.

The second is the level to which the temperature of the server must fall for it to resume (at least partially) the work.

For example, if each user loads the server so that the temperature of its processor grows by 0.1 degrees, and the first critical level is 100 degrees, the second critical level should be set no higher than 99.9 degrees.
