The new driver is optimized for Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands, promising up to 6 percent better performance than driver version 17.2.1 (on a Radeon RX 480 card).

The driver also provides a multi-GPU profile for the game running on DirectX 11.

As with the previous driver, AMD is not supporting the 32-bit version of Windows 8.1 with this release.

After returning from performing a task switch, users experienced flickering textures or terrain.

In the menus, players saw flickering or corruption when highlighting character models.

Outside the game-specific fixes, the new driver provides solutions for previous problems ranging from Radeon WattMan to Radeon Settings to Radeon ReLive.

Advanced Micro Devices is taking aim at Nvidia with its new Radeon Instinct chips, which repurpose the company s graphics chips as machine intelligence accelerators.Sunnyvale, Calif.-based AMD is following its rival into graphics processing unit GPU accelerators for machine intelligence through a combination of both hardware and open source software.

AMD had to get its graphics house in order, and now it s going after AI, said Kevin Krewell, analyst at Tirias Research. The aim is to dramatically increase performance, efficiency, and ease of implementation of deep learning neural network workloads.

New Radeon Instinct accelerators will offer organizations powerful GPU-based solutions for deep learning inference and training.

We view graphics as very strategic over the next five to 10 years, said Lisa Su, CEO of AMD, in an interview with VentureBeat.

The next phase is compute and making sure we have a very competitive hardware and software platform.

Raja Koduri, senior vice president of AMD s Radeon Technologies Group, said in an interview, We have a lot of work to do in graphics still.

AMD is launching Radeon RX Vega on August 14 with an unusual new “Radeon Pack” scheme designed to get you all-in on the AMD ecosystem—and ostensibly combat mining-induced graphics card shortages.

The Radeon RX Vega 64 is available for $499 standalone or for $599 in the “Radeon Black Pack,” for example, while the liquid-cooled version of the card will only be available as part of the $699 “Radeon Aqua Pack.” Interesting.

The cut-down Radeon RX Vega 56 retails for $399, but it’ll also be available for $499 in the “Radeon Red Pack.”

Spending that extra cash gets you numerous goodies and discounts.

AMD is pitching bundles with Prey and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus after partnering with Bethesda, but says the exact titles can vary by region.

More on that later in the fine print section.

Following the announcement of the new Apple MacBook Pro, AMD has launched the Radeon Pro 400 series of power-efficient graphics cards for laptops.

The range spans the Radeon Pro 450, the Radeon Pro 455, and the Radeon Pro 460, all of which are available in various models of the new 15-inch MacBook Pro.

All are based on AMD's latest 14nm FinFET Polaris architecture, as used in desktop gaming cards like the RX 480, and all have a thermal envelope of less than 35W.

AMD claims that the Radeon Pro 400 series features "the thinnest graphics processor possible," thanks to the use of a die thinning process that reduces each wafer of silicon used in the GPU from 780 microns 0.78 millimetres to 380 microns.

Unfortunately, while AMD claims the Radeon Pro 400 series is great for content creators like "artists, designers, photographers, filmmakers, and engineers," those hoping to do a bit of gaming on their shiny new MacBook Pro will probably struggle.

AMD has released a smattering of specs for the Radeon Pro 400 series on its Creators with Radeon Pro website, which show the Radeon Pro 450 used in the MacBook Pro to have a peak FP32 performance of around one teraflop.

If you're having troubles running Dirt 4 optimally on your Radeon-based desktop or laptop, AMD's latest driver suite should be installed to fix possible Radeon-related performance issues.

During E3 2017, AMD released a new driver suite for its Radeon-branded graphics cards and discrete chips: Radeon Software Crimson ReLive Edition 17.6.2.

The only highlight AMD lists with this release is a fix for Dirt4, which saw a lower-than-expected performance with the latest game build running on Radeon hardware.

Outside of that, the 17.6.2 driver notes only list the current known general and Radeon ReLive-based issues.

On the gaming front, here are the outstanding issues regarding specific games:

AMD customers with older Radeon graphics cards should see an improvement in VR performance after installing the latest Radeon graphics driver.

The latest driver for AMD’s Radeon-branded graphics cards is out, dubbed as Radeon Software Crimson ReLive Edition 17.4.1.

The big highlights with this release is that it provides support for Asynchronous Spacewarp (Oculus Rift) for the Radeon R9 Fury series, the Radeon R9 390 series, and the Radeon R9 290 series.

On the Asynchronous Spacewarp and Asynchronous Reprojection fronts, this tech fills in the holes when the combined PC and VR application can’t sustain the needed 90 frames per second for a fluid visual experience (dropped frames will create a “dragging,” slow-motion visual effect).

Thus, to fill the holes, the tech analyzes the previous frames to determine head movement and then renders a predicted scene in a custom frame.

In addition to the new VR features, the driver adds support for DisplayPort 1.4 HBR3, an 8K resolution at 60Hz using two cables, and an 8K resolution at 30Hz using one cable.

AMD has announced a new family of workstation-targeted graphics processors, the Polaris-based Radeon Pro 500 series, even as its customer Apple promises to begin shipping machines with next-generation Vega replacements by December.

Announced during Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) last night, AMD's Radeon Pro 500 series can be found in the company's updated iMac all-in-one systems and MacBook Pro laptops - but not, interestingly, the iMac Pro Apple will launch in December with significantly more powerful Vega-based graphics.

The top-end model, the Radeon Pro 580, promises 5.5 trillion floating-point operations per second (T/FLOPS) of compute performance in a thermal envelope AMD claims is perfectly suited to the iMac's slim all-in-one design.

'It is incredibly satisfying to see the capabilities of Radeon Pro 500 series in elegant form factors and enabling amazing content creation, gaming and VR experiences,' crowed Raja Koduri, senior vice president and chief architect of the Radeon Technologies Group at AMD.

'Radeon Pro 500 Series graphics are enabling new generations of makers with compute-accelerated creative tools and new APIs, bringing their imaginations to life in ways like never before.'

The Radeon Pro 500 series starts with the Radeon Pro 555, which has 12 compute units for a total of 768 stream processors, 81GB/s of memory bandwidth, and offers a 1.3 T/FLOPS peak performance.

AMD has today announced two new additions to their Polaris graphics card line-up: the Radeon RX 470, and the Radeon RX 460.

These new cards complete the Radeon RX graphics family, according to AMD, and slot in underneath the $200 Radeon RX 480.

The Radeon RX 470 is being positioned as the perfect card for 1080p gaming.

Featuring a very similar design to the RX 480, and using a cut-down version of the same Polaris 10 GPU, AMD claims this card can play a wide range of modern titles at 1080p and 60 FPS with anti-alisasing enabled.

Compared to the Radeon R9 270, AMD's three-year-old mid-tier card that launched at $180, the RX 470 offers between 1.5x and 2.4x the performance in AMD's collection of benchmarks.

When we get our hands on the card, it will be interesting to see if these performance claims stack up.
