Red Dead Redemption 2’s launch on the PC wasn’t without problems, with one glaring show-stopping issue that prevented some gamers (including us) from enjoying the game, but that bug has now been fixed – at least Rockstar claims.

The gremlin was addressed by an update to the Rockstar Launcher, with the patch to version 1.0.9.164 applying a bunch of fixes including the resolution of the ‘Rockstar Games Launcher exited unexpectedly’ error message we were encountering (along with plenty of others).

The full list of fixes is as follows:

Fixed an issue that resulted in the Rockstar Games Launcher returning the error "The Rockstar Games Launcher failed to initialize" on startup

Fixed an issue that resulted in the Rockstar Games Launcher preload decryption getting stuck and not completing

Fixed an issue that resulted in the Rockstar Games Launcher returning the error "The Rockstar Games Launcher exited unexpectedly" when launching Red Dead Redemption 2

Rockstar Games will be taking the wraps off some new projects soon, according to Take-Two s recent financial report.

The publisher mentioned Rockstar in its report, saying that it has exciting future projects that will be revealed soon.

Rockstar, of course, is behind some quite popular games, most notably Grand Theft Auto.

No one can say for sure at this point, as the unveiling hasn't happened yet.

Some are anticipating an announcement for a Red Dead Redemption sequel, but it's anyone's guess at this point.

As noted by Gamespot, Take-Two s CFO Lanie Goldstein mentioned that the publisher is anticipating a 75/25 revenue split with 2K and Rockstar for the present fiscal year.

Open-world games have been suffering from a size and “things to do” problem for years, placing hundreds of icons on a map and enticing players to get there as quickly as possible so they can experience all of that nebulous content.

Red Dead Redemption 2, however, manages to resist this trend by making the journeys you take just as if not more important than your ultimate destination.

Its excellent linear missions are complemented by the seemingly random moments you’ll find yourself in as you go from point to point.

As I was closing in on the Van der Linde gang’s camp, hoping to chat with my friends about our next criminal scheme, I heard some men’s voices up the road.

During other emergent events like this, Rockstar gives you more choice over whether or not you want to take action, further enforcing the idea that this is your story, even if nearly everything you can do is planned in some way by the developers.

It certainly would have made my version of Arthur a more complex character, living a life as a fugitive while keeping others from doing the same.

Speculation that Rockstar Games is currently working on Grand Theft Auto 6 gripped the gaming industry today (27 July) after an actor's CV noted work on the unannounced game, as well as upcoming western Red Dead Redemption 2.

The resume of Tim Neff (found and shared on NeoGAF), a performance-capture actor working out of LA and New York, gives nothing away in regard to what character or NPC he might have been playing, so all we have to go on is a listing that may or may not be a typo.

Whether the listing is accurate or not almost certainly won't become clear until after more solid news about the sequel comes out, and everyone will have moved on.

The fact of the matter is that, even if the resume isn't accurate, Rockstar is absolutely, 100% working on a new Grand Theft Auto in some capacity.

GTA 5 released in 2013, and remains a chart-topper four years later.

It has sold incredibly well and is well on its way to becoming the third highest-selling game of all time behind Minecraft and Tetris.

Rockstar this week joined the ranks of game publishers who have launched their own PC game libraries.

The launcher, according to Rockstar Games, functions as a combination storefront and collection for already-owned Rockstar games.

Supposedly it allows you to access any games you already own, both those purchased from other digital stores and those on physical discs.

It also supports cloud saves and automatic game updates.

It’s a perfectly acceptable launcher, but that still doesn’t explain its existence.

Rockstar Games’ highly anticipated prequel Red Dead Redemption 2 will launch in just a few months, but up to this point we haven’t seen any actual gameplay from the Western epic.

That changed today with the newest official Red Dead Redemption 2 video, which gave us a breathtaking look at the game in action.

Our first look at Red Dead Redemption 2 shows protagonist Arthur Morgan riding on a horse at the peak of a mountain, showing a gorgeous view of snow-covered hills in the distance and trees on the ground below.

The video then cuts to our first look at hand-to-hand combat, showing two characters throwing punches as well as each other, and then shows off the third-person shooting you’re sure to be doing plenty of in Red Dead Redemption 2.

The “Dead Eye Targeting” system makes a return, so you’ll be able to slow down time and pick off targets in high-stakes situations.

Red Dead Redemption 2 will contain a number of different environments, including swamps and deserts, and when traveling to a new area, the Van der Linde gang sets up a new home camp.

Rockstar Games has confirmed Red Dead Redemption 2 for a Autumn 2017 release.

Rockstar Games has confirmed that its next game will take players back to the Wild West with a sequel to 2010's Red Dead Redemption.

The follow-up, simply entitled Red Dead Redemption 2, is set for an autumn 2017 release date for Xbox One and PS4 and marks the first major release from the studio since its open-world opus, Grand Theft Auto 5.

The developer also announced that a debut trailer will arrive on 20 October at 4pm BST 11am EST .

The announcement follows two days of increasingly unsubtle references to the Red Dead franchise via Rockstar Games' Twitter account.

On Monday 16 October , a tweet and subsequent post on Rockstar's official website showed off an updated company logo in black set against a pastel-shaded red, reminiscent of the artwork for the series.

The Rockstar Games logo in a style that's in-keeping with 2010's Red Dead Redemption.

Rockstar Games has signaled that the announcement of a new game in the Red Dead series is imminent with an announcement on Twitter.

The official Rockstar account tweeted only the image above, in tandem with an updated profile picture.

While there's no official word that this is Red Dead, the style of the image, not to mention all the red, make it pretty clear that 2010's Red Dead Redemption is finally getting a sequel, and that it will make its debut at some point over the coming days.

Redemption was the second game in the western series, following 2004's Red Dead Revolver on PS2, Xbox and currently also available on PS4.

Redemption took the series to its first open world, and told one of Rockstar Games' best and most accomplished stories to date.

It's a game that, even after dozens of hours, continues to surprise me.

But we must!Rockstar Games/Take-Two Interactive

There are quite a few hats in "Red Dead Redemption 2," and even more outfit combinations.

After taking the bear skin to a trapper, he'll offer to buy your legendary bear skin.
