The Orville’s first season wrapped up back in December, and it’ll be December again before we see any new episodes.

But Seth MacFarlane’s Star Trek-inspired sci-fi comedy showed up at Comic-Con with an early peek at season two for its fans—including this extended trailer.

Looks like lots of explosive action, wild hijinks, goofy aliens, strange new worlds, an extended bit about Bortus not wanting to share his birthday party with Kelly, and some surprisingly earnest moments, too.

In other words, all the things that made the first season of The Orville so enjoyable—with everything turned up a notch.

Season two of The Orville kicks off December 30th on Fox.

Seth MacFarlane is a bit of a controversial figure.

Sure, Family Guy might be one of the longest-lasting animated shows on television, but I'm not a huge fan.

Yet, his new show, The Orville, coming later this fall, is one I'm very much interested in... because of something I am a fan of: Star Trek.

The Orville is a sci-fi dramedy about the captain of the USS Orville, a mid-level exploration ship, set 400 years in the future.

The show looks to take a lot of inspiration from the original Star Trek series, and that's no coincidence.

MacFarlane is a fairly big Trekkie (or Trekker, depending on your preference) himself, so much that he wanted to wanted to help a television revival, shortly after the one for the big screen.

Seth MacFarlane is most commonly known as the creator—and, in many cases, the voices—of the animated comedy series “Family Guy,” but he is also a lifelong science-fiction buff.

He produced “Cosmos,” the 2014 reboot of Carl Sagan’s beloved series, and on Sunday will première a new live-action show, “The Orville,” in which he plays the captain of a spaceship four hundred years in the future.

I was hooked from a pretty young age.

Did you ever consider studying science instead of art?

I never seriously considered it, only because I wasn’t any good at math.

But what accounts for the grim tone of so much recent (and excellent) sci-fi—“District 9,” “Battlestar Galactica,” “The Expanse”?

Until then, though, we’ve got what looks like the next best thing: Seth MacFarlane’s spoof of the franchise, The Orville.

Fox just released the first trailer for the show, which stars MacFarlane and Adrianne Palicki as a divorced couple who are basically Kirk and Spock on a brand new spaceship with a suitably crazy crew.

I’m not usually a fan of MacFarlane’s shows because they’re always so on the nose with their references and humor.

Since Sonos was founded in 2002, CEO John MacFarlane has been the head of the company, but that is coming to an end.

Today, MacFarlane announced that he is stepping down as chief executive, and handing the role over to Patrick Spence.

While this may come as a surprise to some, it was known to the company s employees for some time.

MacFarlane has planned to step out of the role earlier on, mainly for personal reasons, but sudden fierce and unexpected competition from Amazon s Echo speaker gave him reason to stay on longer than he had originally planned.

Though he is now handing the role over to Spence, that doesn t mean he will leave the company entirely.

It's loved by audiences and loathed by critics, and now The Orville will be back for a second season.

No one quite knew what to expect when Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane announced plans for sci-fi series The Orville, but the show’s surprisingly earnest homage to Star Trek and other sci-fi series — mixed with MacFarlane’s signature humor, of course — proved to be a hit with audiences.

Just seven episodes into its first season, Fox has officially renewed the series for a second season.

Created by MacFarlane, The Orville chronicles the cosmic adventures of the crew of the U.S.S.

Orville, an exploratory vessel in the 25th century.

MacFarlane himself leads the cast as Ed Mercer, the ship’s captain, who leads an eccentric crew that includes his ex-wife Kelly Grayson (Adrianne Palicki), helmsman Gordon Malloy (Scott Grimes), security officer Alara Kitan (Halston Sage), chief medical officer Claire Finn (Penny Johnson Jerald), second officer Bortus (Peter Macon), navigator John LaMarr (J. Lee), and science officer Isaac (Mark Jackson).

After nearly a decade and a half as the chief executive officer of the hardware company he cofounded, John MacFarlane has announced his resignation as the head of Sonos.

The move had reportedly been planned for some time, with the executive citing a number of personal reasons.

That decision was delayed, however, due in part to increased and unexpected competition by Amazon s line of Echo speakers, which cut into Sonos bottom line.

The pivot that Sonos started at this time last year to best address these changes is complete, now it s about acceleration and leading, MacFarlane wrote in an open letter published on the Sonos site.

I can look ahead and see the role of Sonos, with the right experiences, partners, and focus, with a healthy future.

In short, the future of the home music experience, and the opportunity for Sonos has never been better.

Did you ever wonder if Will Ferrell can play the drums?

However, if you’re into that sort of thing, Google released a new program on December 7 that will be right up your alley.

The tech giant now offers a selfie-style answer program for celebrities.

Celebrities can answer their “most asked questions” through the program, according to Google’s announcement.

It’s unclear how many of those questions each celebrity answered or how often they will update their answers.

While the program is not meant to provide answers to every question, it does aim to serve as a surprise for users who opt for Google over Bing or other search engines.

When Apple first announced the surprise purchase of Carpool Karaoke ― a series based on the popular segment from The Late Late Show hosted by James Corden, we weren t sure what to expect.

On Monday morning, the show s executive producer Ben Winston provided some details while speaking at a panel during the 2017 Winter TCA Press Tour.

We re going to have 16 different hosts, he said, according to Deadline.

Among them are stars like Chelsea Handler, Billy Eichner and Seth MacFarlane.

The series, which executive producer Eric R. Pankowski described as 16 specials as opposed to a full TV series, will seemingly be more of an interview series, with each episode lasting about 30 minutes.

Each one was its own event, Pankowski said.

In space no one can hear your screams, cries, or fart jokes, unless you are onboard Seth MacFarlane’s sci-fi comedy The Orville.

At New York Comic-Con 2017, The Orville cast, including Scott Grimes, Adrianne Palicki, Penny Johnson Jerald, McFarlane, and executive producer David A. Goodman, previewed clips from an upcoming episode.

He told all in attendance that his confidence in a second season of Orville is “based on the fan reaction and the numbers.” The numbers definitely appear to be on Orville‘s side.

The fifth episode of the season aired on October 5 and attracted more than 3.4 million live viewers.

That is more than the 2.84 million viewers Fox’s Gotham‘s attracted on the same night, and more live viewers than any Gotham episode has attracted since the middle of its third season.

The Orville is an intergalactic comedy centering around a crew of aliens, robots, and miscreants traveling space aboard the U.S.S.
