Humanity should be wary of seeking out contact with alien civilizations, Stephen Hawking has warned once again.

In 2010, the famed astrophysicist said that intelligent aliens may be rapacious marauders, roaming the cosmos in search of resources to plunder and planets to conquer and colonize.

"One day, we might receive a signal from a planet like this," Hawking says in the documentary, referring to a potentially habitable alien world known as Gliese 832c.

Meeting an advanced civilization could be like Native Americans encountering Columbus.

The ashes of British physics ace Professor Stephen Hawking will be placed in Westminster Abbey after a special service of thanksgiving for his life.

Hawking died at the age of 76 last week after a long struggle with motor neuron disease and was cremated.

His ashes will be placed in the abbey, in London, England, between the remains of Sir Isaac Newton, who was laid to rest in 1727, and Charles Darwin, who was buried in 1882.

"It is entirely fitting that the remains of Professor Stephen Hawking are to be buried in the Abbey, near those of distinguished fellow scientists," said the Dean of Westminster, the Very Reverend Dr John Hall, last night.

"We believe it to be vital that science and religion work together to seek to answer the great questions of the mystery of life and of the universe."

Stephen Hawking href="https://techcrunch.com/2018/03/13/stephen-hawking-has-died-at-76/"> passed away earlier this year at the age of 76, but his incredible intellect isn’t yet done contributing to the scientific community.

The acclaimed physicist’s final paper is now online for anyone to read and it revisits some mysteries of the physical world that came to define his illustrious career.

Titled “Black Hole Entropy and Soft Hair,” the paper was co-authored by Hawking collaborators Sasha Haco, Malcolm Perry and Andrew Strominger.

The paper is available free on pre-publication repository ArXiv and includes a touching tribute to Hawking.

“We are deeply saddened to lose our much-loved friend and collaborator Stephen Hawking whose contributions to black hole physics remained vitally stimulating to the very end,” it reads.

The paper serves as a kind of bookend to Hawking’s career, collecting some of his final work on the quantum structure of black holes — a topic that Hawking pursued throughout the last 40 years.

At the age of 21, Stephen Hawking was diagnosed with a fatal, motor neuron disease called amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease.

The disease usually kills within two to five years.

Despite several health complications over the years, Hawking lived his entire adult life with the disease – over half a century – until his death at age 76 on March 14.

Hawking spent decades paralyzed in a wheelchair.

But that didn't stop him from making important scientific contributions, appearing on television and receiving several prestigious awards.

Stephen Hawking announces a space exploration project in 2016.

Hawking is named as co-author on a paper submitted on March 4 — ten days before he died.

It sets out a way of testing whether other universes are real.

Its mathematical theories could be tested with a deep-space probe.

Stephen Hawking submitted his final scientific paper just two weeks before he died, and it lays the theoretical groundwork for discovering a parallel universe.

Hawking, who passed away on Wednesday aged 76, was co-author to a mathematical paper which seeks proof of the "multiverse" theory, which posits the existence of many universes other than our own.
