Microsoft has made a change to the way it marks re-certification exams, removing the requirement to pass all components of a test.

The new regime means you'll pass the exam even if you fail some components.

The changes has been made for a variety of psychometric and practical reasons, writes Redmond's Psychometrician Liberty Munson, who goes on to say it will enable a more reliable assessment of your skills .

Because of the combined scoring, awesome performance in one component will compensate for poor performance in another component, she writes, going on to explain that Redmond's current exams place too much weight on some components and therefore aren't always fair or accurate.

Specifically, some component exams are providing more objectives that should be included in the upgrade process to truly measure continued competence in the content domain - there are more changes in those content spaces component exams that need to be assessed in the upgrade exam, Munson writes.

If we left the scoring as it exists today, those components providing fewer objectives to the upgrade process would actually be 'weighted' more heavily in the final score.

p Last month I passed both the core competencies exam and the Buying Professional exam to earn my certification.

To become certified you need to pass 2 exams, a basic "core competencies" exam and then 1 of 2 options; a "Buying Professional" or "Planning Professional" track.

Each exam costs $150, so you'll be expected to shell out $300 to become fully certified (prices are adjusted on less developed countries I believe).

Facebook allows you to take the exam online or in pre-approved testing center.

I chose the online route because it was easier for me.

Whereas the Google AdWords exam is a complete joke and easy to cheat on, Facebook has taken a different route and is making the test as "cheat-proof" as possible.

Phishing should be a concern of everyone using the internet, but it isn’t always easy to spot malicious attachments and links.

In fact, it can be quite difficult, as the unsavory folks of the world have become quite adept at covering their tracks and making everything seem legitimate.

That much is made obvious in a new quiz from Jigsaw and Google, which tests your phishing know-how.

The eight question quiz first tasks you with coming up with a name and an email address – either real or fake – to add an air of realism to it.

Once you do that, you’re then taken through a series of scenarios that present you with various email messages and the links they contain.

Ultimately, you’ll need to examine the messages for clues that what you’re looking at might be a phishing attempt.

The Pearson Test of English Academic is a computer based academic English language test aimed at non-native English speakers who want to study abroad.

PTE is basically a computer based marking that ensures all the test takers are scored impartially and accurately.

Also, it is accepted by all the universities of Australia, New Zealand and Ireland with a large increasing number of Canada, UK, Singapore and Europe.

To start, target your English proficiency level by taking the previous year question paper or pte training in Gurgaon to improve your skills (Grammar, Oral fluency, Pronunciation, Spelling, Vocabulary and Written) and basically the English language ability.

The overall score is based on your performance and focus on the weaker areas.

Ask some basic questions to yourself about like How long does each part (Speaking, Listening, Writing and Reading) is taking time.

It's been a long time coming, but now it's finally here: 3DMark's 'Time Spy' benchmark is now available to test DirectX 12 graphics performance in a synthetic setting.

Time Spy is a very demanding benchmark that uses an array of DirectX 12 features, including asynchronous compute, explicit multi-adapter, and improved multi-threading.

The test runs at 1440p by default, which is enough to crush modern graphics cards even though 3DMark's previous flagship test, Fire Strike Ultra, ran at 4K.

For those who are deeply familar with Futuremark's graphics benchmarks over the years, Time Spy will be of particular interest to you.

The test itself features a museum setting with a number of exhibits, each featuring an older 3DMark benchmark, including those found in the modern version like Fire Strike and Ice Storm.

Plus it looks visually incredible.

UL, the company behind the tablet and phone performance benchmark app 3DMark, has delisted new Huawei phones from its “Best Smartphone” leaderboard after AnandTech discovered the phone maker was boosting its performance to ace the app’s test.

The phones delisted were the P20, P20 Pro, Nova 3 and the Honor Play.

“After testing the devices in our own lab and confirming that they breach our rules, we have decided to delist the affected models and remove them from our performance rankings,” the company said in a statement.

For the Huawei case, the rules are actually a little fuzzy.

Phones are permitted to adjust performance based on workload, which results in peaks or dips in performance for different apps, but they are not permitted to hard-code peaks in performance specifically for the benchmark app.

Huawei reportedly claimed that the peak in performance seen during the run of the benchmark app was an intuitive jump determined by AI; however, when an unlabeled version of the benchmark test was run, the phones were unable to recognize it and, as a result, displayed lower performances.

Originally starting out as a Kickstarter campaign, the EyeQue Insight visual acuity screener is now available for purchase.

In 2016, the company released the EyeQue Personal Vision Tracker, which also allows users to test their eyesight with an app and a tool.

Rather than goggles, the Personal Vision Tracker consists of a small microscope that you attach to your smartphone.

Due to the global rise in myopia, the company felt it was important to make a device like the EyeQue Insight available to the public.

They’re also indoors, so when you have all those things together it’s actually making people more nearsighted,” EyeQue co-founder and Chief Technical Officer John Serri told Digital Trends.

By consulting with different eye doctors, Serri was motivated to find a convenient way for parents to test the visual acuity of their children.

This year’s VWO examination – a matriculation test high school students are required to take to be eligible to pursue university education in the Netherlands – featured an unorthodox theme: Bitcoin.

It exists since January 1, 2009 and can be used to pay at online stores or for other online services.

Bitcoin is not issued by a central bank, unlike normal money.

Instead, Bitcoin is created by letting computers work on solutions for selected mathematical problems.

It works like this: anyone can run special software on his or her computer to contribute to solving such a mathematical problem.

The owner of the computer that finds the solution to a problem receives 25 BTC (newly mined) as a reward.

Doug Madory, Dyn's internet analysis director, told Voactive: "There was certainly a lot of skepticism about this explanation last summer, but the outages did coincide with exams and nothing emerged to dispute the explanation."

A leaked email by Iraqi ISP, obtained by Lebanon based technology and human rights group SMEX, specified the timings of the outages.

As an anonymous source explained: "What happens usually is that some teachers would be giving the exams questions to students who pay money, then those students would sell online questions all over country.

In 2014, Uzbekistan enforced a nationwide internet outage to curb cheating.

Internet freedom activist group Access Now's senior global advocacy manager Deji Olukotun said: "We see this, especially in such a destabilized country as Iraq, as really terrible.

Trainees spent months prepping for web assessment... that fell over hours in

Imagine you'd just spent 18 months of your life working towards a big certification exam that could make or break your career and, come the big day, the web-hosted test fell over.

Well, for some newbie docs, that nightmare scenario today became all too real: blundering online exam provider Pearson VUE went TITSUP* during a day-long examination in Australia, kicking students out of the system.

The computer-based test in question was the Divisional Written Exam, administered by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) to assess whether trainee doctors are fit to embark on studies to become medical specialists.

A prestigious and lucrative career beckons those who pass, which makes it an infamously stressful test to sit.

And doubly so when, as the college reported: "An unknown technical fault left a significant number of candidates locked out of the computer-based system and unable to complete the second part of the examination after their scheduled break today."

School, nursery and college inspections could face a drastic overhaul as Ofsted looks to focus more on the best teaching and not just exam results achieved through cramming.

A look at the school curriculum and teaching environment could spell the end of top rewards for schools which achieve excellent exam results by teaching to the test.

It comes as research by the inspectorate found some schools, nurseries and colleges were gaming the system by giving frequent comprehension tests, or steering students towards exam subjects to boost results.

The education standards body is to crack down on schools which “off-roll” less able students, as it launched a consultation for its new proposals on Wednesday.

Ofsted says shifting the emphasis away from performance data will empower schools to always put the child first, and make sure they are given the best teaching possible.

“If behaviour is not managed effectively and learners are not instilled with positive attitudes to learning, nothing much will be learned.”

The heat shield for NASA's upcoming Mars rover suffered a fracture during testing recently, but the incident won't change the mission's launch date, agency officials said.

The Mars 2020 mission is designed to search the Red Planet's surface for signs of ancient microbial life, and the six-wheeled robot will also hunt for and characterize potentially habitable environments.

The mission is scheduled to launch in 2020, when Earth and Mars are properly aligned for an interplanetary mission, and arrive at the Red Planet in early 2021.

The heat shield's structural damage, located near the shield's outer edge, happened during a weeklong test at the Denver facility of contractor Lockheed Martin Space, according to a NASA statement released Thursday (April 26).

The test was intended to subject the heat shield to forces about 20 percent greater than those it will experience when it hits the Martian atmosphere for entry, descent and landing operations.
