The White House announced that they are passing more than USD 1 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill late last night, and sent the same across to the President Joe Biden’s desk in what is regarded as a pivotal step in enhancing the Democratic economic plans.

The Senate has already approved the plan for revamping transportation, broadband and utilities back in August.

The government’s legislation passage is perhaps known as the unified Democratic government’s substantial achievement as it approved a USD 1.9 trillion coronavirus relief package back in spring.

The measure got passed with a 228-206 votes.

Over Thirteen Republicans shared their support for the package, whereas the six Democrats had voted against the reform.

Biden is expected to sign the bill within some days. The authorities in Washington have been trying and failing for years to pass a major bill upgrading the critical utility and transportation infrastructure, which has endured more pressure due to extreme weather.

The White House today shared open source code for President Obama s Facebook Messenger bot to help other governments build their own bots. The White House says it s sharing the code with the hope that other governments and developers can build similar services — and foster similar connections with their citizens — with significantly less upfront investment, according to a post published today by chief digital officer for the White House Jason Goldman. In August, the White House launched a Facebook Messenger bot to receive messages from American citizens.

The messages are read alongside letters and other communique sent to the president. The open source Drupal module for the president s bot is available to download on Github.

While Drupal may not be the platform others would immediately consider for building a bot, this new White House module will allow non-developers to create bot interactions with customized language and workflows , and empower other governments and agencies who already use Drupal to power their digital experiences, Goldman said on the White House website today. The open source release of the president s bot comes in the same week that the Clinton campaign debuted a voter registration bot and a bot that imitates Donald Trump and sends quotes of offensive things that have been said by the Republican presidential nominee.Several bots have been made during this election and in the past to help people navigate government bureaucracy, create a more engaged citizenry, or positively impact democracy. In the United Kingdom, the intelligent assistant Amelia helps connect local citizens find services, and in Singapore, Microsoft is working with authorities to create government bots.

White House chief of staff John Kelly's personal phone was reportedly compromised by unknown hacker(s).

Kelly reportedly used the phone for months, before turning the device over to White House staffers this summer, when tech support staffers uncovered the suspected breach.

Kelly reportedly told White House staffers that the phone hadn't been working and updating software properly.

Three unspecified US officials told Politico that Kelly's phone may have been compromised as long ago as December 2016.

A White House spokesperson told Politico that Kelly had not used his personal phone too often after joining the Trump administration, adding that White House chief of staff instead used the government-issued phone for official communications.

The exact time and location of Kelly's phone being breached remain unclear.

Just after he was inaugurated as president, there were concerns that Donald Trump was still using his old, unsecured Samsung Galaxy S3 to send out tweets.

But it seems that his current chief of staff, John Kelly, had already fallen victim to hackers, who compromised his phone in an attack that potentially happened up to a month before Trump took office.

According to a new report from Politico that cites three US government officials, White House tech staff only found out about the suspected breach when Kelly handed in the phone this summer, complaining that it had been glitchy and not updating properly for months.

It’s thought an attack could have occurred as far back as December 2016.

White House aides circulated a memo regarding the situation last month.

The phone was Kelly’s own device, rather than his government-issued one.

Social media was flooded with concerns on Wednesday after President Donald Trump’s disturbing refusal to commit to a peaceful transition of power if he loses the November election.

Trump was asked at a White House press conference if he would commit to a peaceful transferal of power if he lost. Trump said, “Well, we’re going to have to see what happens.”

Continuing his attack on voting by post – as millions of people prepare to do so amid the coronavirus pandemic – Trump also alluded that he would accept the results only if the option of mail-in ballots is removed.

“Get rid of the ballots and you’ll have a peaceful ... there won’t be a transfer, frankly, there’ll be a continuation,” he said.

For months, Trump has laid the groundwork to declare the election results illegitimate unless he wins. In July, he told Fox News anchor Chris Wallace that he’ll “have to see” if he’ll accept the results of the election.

His brazen comments set Twitter afire as critics, including senators Mitt Romney, Brian Schatz, Chuck Schumer and Tammy Duckworth, voiced deep concerns about his disregard for democracy.

Personal devices are now banned from Donald Trump’s White House, according to a statement from press secretary Sarah Sanders.

Staff will be still be allowed to use government-issued devices, but they can’t send texts on those devices.

In a statement, Sanders attributes the ban to upholding "the security and integrity of the technology systems.” The move comes only a day after excerpts of journalist Michael Wolff’s new book Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House were released, a book that has chagrined the president.

Wolff’s reporting was done through multiple staff interviews that Steve Bannon arranged, Sanders told reporters yesterday.

In response to the excerpts, Trump denounced Bannon in a public statement to reporters — including some at The New York Times — saying, “Steve pretends to be at war with the media, which he calls the opposition party, yet he spent his time at the White House leaking false information to the media to make himself seem far more important than he was.

It is the only thing he does well.”

The ever-changing Russian hacking scandal—which doesn’t yet have a catchy name like Treasongate but clearly needs one—took a sharp U-Turn back to email territory, when Donald Trump Jr. revealed the email chain in which he set up a meeting with a Russian government lawyer.

We profiled the British publicist who organized the get-together, a guy who has had a long and colorful relationship with the Trump family, much of which helpfully lives on social media.

Reports indicate that congressional and special investigators are looking into President Trump’s campaign data team for signs they may have helped Russians target misinformation to undecided voters.

However, Russia wouldn’t even really need a mole within the campaign to launch a full-bore, targeted propaganda campaign in the US–a fact that should trouble you more, not less.

Besides, if congress wants to find answers about Russian ad targeting, it should probably just ask Facebook.

Oh, and Uber created a tool that allows its engineers to know less about you, while still analyzing your data to make the app work well.

The White House has proceeded with a ban against personal cell phone use, preventing its staffers from using their own handsets while at work on the premises.

A rumor of the ban surfaced weeks ago, proving controversial as staffers worried that they’d be cut off from family and friends under such a restriction.

Despite those worries, the Trump administration has decided to implement the ban, citing security concerns.

The ban has been confirmed via an official statement by Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who said:

The security and integrity of the technology systems at the White House is a top priority for the Trump administration and therefore starting next week the use of all personal devices for both guests and staff will no longer be allowed in the West Wing.

Staff will be able to conduct business on their government-issued devices and continue working hard on behalf of the American people.
