Ubisoft announced Just Dance 2018 during its Electronic Entertainment Expo event in Los Angeles today.

Just Dance is one of Ubisoft’s biggest franchises, which the publisher releases annually.

The dancing game series has found a large casual audience, helping it reach sales of over 48 million copies.

Just Dance 2018 is coming out on October for “all” consoles.

That likely includes PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

The first Just Dance came out in 2009.

Feeling fatigued or stressed at work?

Conventional wisdom says you might want to take a break, but new research finds playing casual video games can actually be more restorative than just passively zoning out in a break room for five minutes.

Researchers from the University of Central Florida had 66 study participants use a computer to perform a repetitive and boring task designed to induce cognitive fatigue, which involves a decline in working memory and decision making.

Subjects were then given a break during which some participants played a casual pachinko-style game called "Sushi Cat 2," while others did a guided relaxation activity and a third group sat quietly without access to any devices.

Of the three groups, only those who played the game said the break made them feel better.

Those that did the guided relaxation had the highest scores for working memory, but interestingly the relaxation activity led to an increase in feelings of worry.

The move is one of the biggest acquisitions Zynga has made under Frank Gibeau, who became CEO in March 2016.

It’s also a big validation for Peak Games’ strategy of focusing on casual card games that are popular worldwide, like spades and gin rummy.

Zynga will get Peak’s card games such as Spades Plus, Gin Rummy Plus, and Okey.

The latter is based on a popular Middle Eastern board game.

The deal is a big one for Zynga, which previously paid $527 million when it acquired NaturalMotion, a studio that made games such as CSR Racing and Dawn of Titans.

In an interview, Gibeau said acquisition is one of a few ways that Zynga is trying to increase its overall revenues.

Nintendo is known as a casual gaming company, but the Nintendo Switch is more powerful than it looks.

If you want to get the most out of your console, you’ll definitely need the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller.

Well, actually, we should amend that statement because the Nintendo-brand Pro controller is crazy expensive.

There’s another option that’s set to be released soon though, and it’s called the Nintendo Switch HORIPAD Wired Controller.

It’s officially licensed by Nintendo, it’s just as good as the first-party Pro controller, and it only costs $30 on Amazon.

Do yourself a favor and pre-order one or two now, because they’re going to be tough to find once they’re released.

When Iván De Cabo hacked together Steve – The Jumping Dinosaur , the super casual game playable from within the iOS Notification Center game, he had no idea what would happen next.

This then led to an acquisition offer that went up and up — from an initial $350 to $60,000, De Cabo told TechCrunch at the time — that was politely declined.

However, TechCrunch has learned that Steve – The Jumping Dinosaur has since been acquired by a different suitor, Spanish gaming company Genera Games, for a sum I understand to be more than triple the offer De Cabo originally received.

In a call, De Cabo told me he was first introduced to Genera by his then boss at Icinetic, Lucas Gozálvez who also owned a 15 per cent stake in Steve – The Jumping Dinosaur but at first the gaming company wasn t interested in making an acquisition.

What I don t know is how I found out that there exist extensions for iOS that let you code for the notification center, De Cabo recalls.

My first impression when I met Ivan was that guy is really smart and honest, I want to work with him to evolve the game niche that he has opened, says Curro Rueda, Genera Games Chief Operating Officer, in a statement.

As if Nintendo hasn t had a good enough couple of weeks with Pokemon Go, the company is now receiving praise from key developer Ubisoft regarding the in-development NX console.

Speaking on an earnings call this week, CEO Yves Guillemot revealed what we have seen is really great," which will be news to the ears of Nintendo s ardent fanbase.

See also: Nintendo NX: Everything we know

Guillemot s first-hand knowledge of the mysterious machine has convinced him the NX will even herald the return of casual gamers, many of whom have absconded consoles for mobile devices.

He said via IGN : "We think having a new machine coming is going to help the industry to continue to grow, and to take lots more casual players back to the industry.

The return of Nintendo s casual audience will undoubtedly be a key measuring stick for the NX, as the Japanese giant seeks to recapture the glory days of the original Wii and DS devices.

Facebook was once a leader in browser-based social games for casual players but once developers turned their attention to mobile, that revenue stream dried up considerably.

Now, the world s largest social networking is looking to once again attract gamers through an existing partnership with an established player in the game no pun intended .

Facebook Product Marketing Manager Jack King Choi revealed earlier today that the two companies are working to expand Facebook s set of game developer tools and services which includes an all-new PC gaming platform currently in development.

The two are also building new functionality into the Unity engine that ll streamline the process of exporting and publishing games on Facebook.

This, Choi said, will allow devs to quickly make their games available to the more than 650 million people that currently play Facebook-connected games each month.

Although not what it once was, gaming is still a high priority for Facebook as evident by deals like this as well as its acquisition of Oculus VR a couple of years back.

The publisher recently acquired mobile developer Funtactix, which has produced iOS and Android games based on properties like The Hunger Games, Creed, and Mission: Impossible.

Playtech plans to use Funtactix s expertise and existing relationships with Hollywood and gamers to help it produce similar apps featuring big-name intellectual properties.

Mobile gaming, while lucrative, is a competitive market.

The acquisition of Funtactix, in addition to Plamee and YoYo Games, enables us to offer a complete suite of content and software to players, designers, and third parties including some of the largest studios and brands in the world.

Funtactix started in 2006, and it comprises gaming talent from Microsoft, Sony, and LucasArts as well as Hollywood talent from MGM and William Morris Endeavor.

It has most recently produced games like Real Boxing 2: Rocky and the card game Saban s Power Rangers Unite.

The Nintendo NX is one of the most long-teased console releases I can ever remember, especially as an officially acknowledged thing.

Speaking on his company s quarterly earnings conference call yesterday via IGN , Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot shared some tantalizing impressions about the NX: It s really great, and it should help the industry continue to grow, particularly by bringing more casual players back into the console gaming fold.

It s not exactly a detailed leak, but in some ways it s more illuminating than the confusing mess of hardware rumors we ve been hearing so far.

While the only official word from Nintendo remains that it exists, that it s targeting a March 2017 release date, and that it will feature a brand new concept, rumors suggest it could by a hybrid mobile device/living room console, with a completely portable mode unlike the Wii U, and that it could transition smoothly from TV-based to mobile gaming.

Guillemot s comments don t reveal what the console will look like, but do give us clues about who it s intended to impress: casual players.

Nintendo s biggest console success, the original Wii, did well primarily because it struck a chord with a non-traditional console gaming audience, thanks to accessible gameplay and unique use of motion controls for participatory play.

TOKYO— Sony Corp. SNE 1.74 % s PlayStation unit plans to release five or six smartphone games in the year ending March 2018, the company said Friday, its latest attempt to lure more casual gamers to its high-end gaming platform.

The move isn t the first time the PlayStation unit has offered games for mobile devices, but previous efforts didn t make deep inroads.

In April, the unit created the ForwardWorks subsidiary as part of a renewed push to attract smartphone users.

The market has grown too large to ignore for videogame companies.

Many casual players today enjoy games only on smartphones because they are free to download, slowing growth of game-dedicated hardware.

Nintendo Co. NTDOY 0.03 % s Wii U has suffered from the trend, prompting the company to step into smartphone games and de-emphasize its most-recent console more quickly than usual.
