The attention might have been on the squeezable U11 Plus during its launch event in Taipei, but shortly after its unveiling, HTC confirmed that a dual-camera smartphone is currently in the works.

The confirmation came from HTC president Chialin Chang, who was expectedly coy regarding further details about the smartphone.

The executive did insinuate that HTC will find a way to make the dual camera system stand out from the crowd:

We’ll definitely be releasing a dual-camera phone next year, but we’ll need to figure out how to make this feature stand out.

HTC fans will remember that the company first dabbled in the world of dual-camera smartphones with 2011’s Evo 3D.

The phone tried, and failed in many regards, to capture the 3D craze at the time with a dual-camera system that took 3D pictures.

After being so early to the dual-camera game that the company later had to abandon it, HTC plans to return to producing phones with dual-camera systems sometime next year.

Engadget reports that HTC’s smartphone division president, Chialin Chang, says the company will “definitely be releasing a dual-camera phone next year, but we'll need to figure out how to make this feature stand out.”

The quote seems to perfectly encapsulate the perpetual problem that HTC faces.

Though it continually makes some really solid offerings, they often struggle to stand out in a crowded marketplace dominated by Samsung, Apple, and LG.

It probably stings that HTC beat everyone to the dual camera game, only to pull out right before Apple began to popularize it.

HTC shipped its first dual-camera phone in 2011 and used the second sensor to offer 3D effects.

Honor has seen quite a growth in the past months.

The Huawei sub-brand has caught the customers attention with their high-quality, and often budget-friendly devices.

And, a few days after the launch of the Honor 8, Honor is coming out with a mid-range smartphone which will sport a dual camera setup, the Honor 6X.As we can observe in the photo above the Honor 6X features a couple of cameras on the back, to which we are steadily starting to get used to seeing from Huawei/Honor.The TENAA certificate didn t release any specifications so we aren t aware of the pixel count or if one of them is B/W like on the bigger brothers.

That said, although cameras are placed differently, it s safe to assume they will have very similar overall functionalities.Huawei Honor 6X Specifications Rumoured Although these specifications are nothing but rumors, the Honor 6X could sport a 5.5″ Full HD display, we could see 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage expandable .

It ll probably be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 with the EMUI skin on top of Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.Since TENAA is already showing the phone in their database, we can expect the Honor 6X to launch very soon.

Apparently, Elephone are working really hard on their upcoming mid-range Elephone C8, a phone that will be featuring a whopping four cameras, two at the front and two on the back.

Elephone previously compared their device to the iPhone 7 Plus as far as design goes, this time they’re getting even more ballsy and say the Elephone C8 can shoot as good photos as the Apple device.

Then check out the image below!

As we can see in the image, the Elephone C8 will be powered by ArcSoft’s dual camera software.

The company – a leader in imaging intelligence technology – works on dual camera smartphone since 2015, so they definitely know what they’re doing, and we can see that in the image above.

The bokeh effect appears to be what you can expect from more expensive devices and not just a post-added blur mask.

With the dual camera trend catching on, Meizu seems to have finally decided to implement a dual camera system.

There have been multiple leaks of the Meizu Pro 7, but the latest render that has turned up on Weibo, shows a dual camera setup on the rear of the Pro 7.The Pro 7 is Meizu’s alleged flagship of the year.

Meizu won’t be the first one to have a dual camera setup on its phone.

Many Chinese brands like Xiaomi, Huawei, LeEco and Vivo have long brought phones to the markets with dual cameras.

Meizu released the E2 a couple of days back, which had a design aspect that Meizu or any other brand never implemented.

This shows that Meizu is finally adopting new design and hardware to compete in the market.

In an interesting twist, HTC has revealed that it will release a dual-camera smartphone sometime next year.

This is puzzling because HTC was one of the first phone makers to release a dual-camera device, releasing phones with the technology for several years before any of its biggest rivals, only to drop the feature after 2015.

This news was shared by HTC itself at the U11+ debut in Taiwan last week.

“We’ll definitely be releasing a dual-camera phone next year, but we’ll need to figure out how to make this feature stand out,” said HTC President Chialin Chang.

It was a bit of an odd announcement, as Chang noted that HTC’s lineup for 2018 will be limited, focusing on just five to six smartphones, but no other details about the dual-camera feature revealed.

This includes why the company is taking another stab at the technology all of a sudden.

A mysterious Sony device appeared in the realms of GFXBench today.

According to the leaked shot the handset codenamed as H3213 can be the very first Sony’s handset to sport a dual camera setup.

The dual camera trend have started on the past few years, but grow in numbers just in 2017, with a lot of device makers following the trend with their dual camera capable smartphones.

Sony couldn’t catch up in the game with the other manufactures until today, but this can be changing soon according to the GFX database.

GFXBench’s listing indicate that the H3213 Avenger will sport two front facing cameras, so that will not only be Sony’s first dual camera handset, but judging by the info, will also come as a selfie centric smartphone.

The front cameras are listed as a 16MP unit coupled by another 8MP unit.

Dual camera design is what moves the mobile world lately and the trend is apparently not only continuing, but intensifying.

And seems like in the days to come the dual rear cameras are not going to be enough so pretty soon we should start seeing the phones with dual front cameras too.Speculations, that major players like Samsung, Huawei or Vivo are already working on dual front camera models are quite rampant so it s only logical that small players like Bluboo are trying to keep the pace.

It s also rumored that the rear cameras should have optical zoom and support 4K recording.Front dual camera sensors are not being left out and with 16 Mpix resolution it should be pretty potent too and of course capable of the depth of field and bokeh effect.

In addition the selfie cams should feature a special optimized face-beauty mode and wide-angle shots.Keep in mind all the information above is still in the speculation column and we have seen some bombastic Bluboo leaks in the past that didn t really pan out.

But regardless Bluboo are working pretty fast on releasing the D1 model soon so we should expect more solid information to surface soon through their official website.
