Effective leaders at the best law firm have a good understanding of the legal work coming out of the office, the overall satisfaction of its clients, and an awareness of the employees' overall job satisfaction. The best law firms also have compassion for their clients. When attorneys at these firms meet with clients, it's never about sharing the attorney's successes. These attorneys fail to recall one of the most basic ethical considerations of attorneys, acting in the best interest of the client. The best law firms have focus on one area of law and become very good at it.

Tech may grab headlines for its misogyny and racial biases, but when it comes to job satisfaction, professional women still rank it as the best industry to work in, according to a survey by the company InHerSight.

That’s sad for the state of women in tech and shows just how low of a bar industries have set for promoting and supporting women in the workplace.

As Women’s History Month draws to a close, here’s a look at the InHerSight data, which shows what technology does better — and worse — than other industries.

According to the InHerSight data, women remain underrepresented in the tech workplace.

Only 28% of all tech jobs are staffed by women, but women still prefer working in the industry to any other.

Mainly that’s a matter of benefits.

With attrition rates growing in many regions, especially Asia, retention of skilled talent has become a growing concern for businesses, and leaders are forced to focus more on talent management.

As a region filled with emerging markets, expectations of the Asian workforce are rapidly evolving as well – people now want to contribute in more tangible and creative ways at work.

Apart from attracting the right talent, business leaders are faced with the challenge of sourcing and managing their workforce better in an increasingly connected world .

Now it is imperative that boardroom decisions on business innovation factor in the changing global talent pool as well as the role of technology.

In Hong Kong, for example, the Innovation and Technology Fund aims to help and encourage Hong Kong companies to upgrade their technology and introduce innovative ideas to their businesses.

With funds available and business opportunities aplenty, how can businesses adapt to the changing demands of Asia’s new workforce?

Allowing employees to work from their mobile devices can increase job satisfaction, efficiency, creative thinking, loyalty, and engagement—quite a long list of advantages.Nevertheless, embracing these benefits necessitates paying much attention to the drawbacks: mobile threats.

Each time an employee uses a smartphone to access corporate data, they put the full network at risk—unless appropriate security systems are in place. To realize the full potential of a place of work mobility, IT professionals must first acknowledge the most serious mobile threats.

These are generally free apps available in official app stores that undertake as advertised but they also send personal—and possibly corporate—data to a remote server, in which it is mined by advertising companies and, in some cases, cybercriminals.Data leakage can also occur via malicious enterprise-signed mobile apps.

Those same mobile malware programs use allocation code native to popular platforms like iOS and Android to move valuable information all over the company network without elevating red flags. To avoid these issues, only grant apps the authorizations that they require to function properly.

Network SpoofingConnectivity spoofing occurs when hackers install bogus access points—connections that appear to be Wi-Fi networks but are certainly traps—in high-traffic public places such as coffee bars, library resources, and airports.

Cybercriminals offer the access points popular names like “Free Airport Wi-Fi” or “Coffeehouse” to motivate people to engage.Sometimes in cases, attackers necessitate users to create an "account" with a password to access such free services.

Emplify, a two-year-old software startup that helps companies track employee satisfaction more consistently, announced today that it has raised a $7.5 million round of financing.

The round was led by the growth equity arm of New Jersey’s Edison Partners.

A pair of Midwestern VC firms — Indiana’s Allos Ventures, Missouri’s Cultivation Capital — also participated.

Traditionally, companies have measured employee engagement via one of two ways — either they take on a do-it-yourself mentality and send out a questionnaire via Survey Monkey or a similar platform every year, or they hire a pricey consulting firm to do the work.

Emplify aims to be a middle of the road solution — its software allows companies to survey their employees quarterly, but also assigns its customers an “employee engagement specialist” who regularly checks in and makes suggestions on where to improve.

Companies who use Emplify start by sending their employees a 6-minute survey that they can fill out by email, SMS, or in Emplify’s app.

This demonstrates why so many people are looking to move to the San Francisco Bay Area, said Andrew Chamberlain, chief economist with Glassdoor.com.

Job satisfaction, work-life balance and hiring opportunity are unparalleled compared to anywhere else in the country in the Bay Area, Chamberlain added. The 2016 results demonstrate a huge improvement in the job hiring scores for both the San Jose and the San Francisco areas.

The Boston area and the Washington, D.C. metro areas rounded out the top 5.The survey determined that the median base salary in Santa Clara County is $112,000.

1 among the top 25 cities that were listed in the survey, every other metro area in the country is a distant second to the South Bay.Santa Clara County s base median salary is 27 percent higher than the San Francisco metro area and 32 percent higher than the Seattle region. The survey created a job score that was calculated from four equally weighted factors: hiring opportunity, cost of living, job satisfaction and work-life balance, said Allison Berry, a Glassdoor spokeswoman.

San Jose had the highest score for hiring opportunity, cost of living and job satisfaction, Berry said.

Plants can add more to an office than a decorative touch: psychologists have found that, as well as oxygenating the air, bringing some flora into the workplace can improve employee satisfaction and can increase productivity by up to 15 per cent.

But the lack of natural light and variable temperatures can make an office environment tough for many plants to thrive in.

"The big thing for offices is air conditioning," says Freddie Blackett, co-founder and CEO of online gardening startup Patch.

"Plants aren't used to very fast-varying environments."

Blackett had the idea for Patch in 2014 after struggling to grow plants on the balcony of his flat.

Aimed at city dwellers, its web app curates collections by the conditions they're best suited to and gives buyers easy-to-follow care instructions.
