High-failure strategies can have a significant payoff, but most people don't have the stomach to execute on them for a long enough period of time.

Here's a great overview of why they work.

I’ve been sharing some of my “ten lessons from ten years in business” here on the blog the past couple weeks.

So far it’s included Putting Values First, Putting Yourself First, Two Types of Focus, Power of Thank You and Strategy is Choosing.

Today I wanted to talk about the importance of adjustments vs pure planning.

Or as the great poet/laureate of our time Mike Tyson apparently once said, everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth!

Plans are a great starting point, but the real value comes afterward in the adjustments.

When the market outside your walls responds to your execution, and you in turn respond, react and adjust execution.

While “purpose driven” might not be what first comes to mind when thinking of an agency with venture capitalist connections, Scout Lab has spent the first year of its life developing processes that replace traditional agency thinking with product development strategies.

After spending years on the marketing teams at brands including Levi’s and Airbnb, co-founders Kaitlyn Barclay and Willow Hill decided to venture out on their own in 2017.

They said many larger legacy brands have been “blindsided” by venture-backed startups like the mattress firm Casper because they’re thinking too much about the big picture without testing concepts fast enough or often enough.

“If you’re not agile and quick to market, you could be done before you even start,” Hill said.

“That’s just the nature of the way consumers are able to adopt new technology and new products with access they’ve never really had before.”

Scout Lab is also focused on brands with a cause.

They’re focused on the email going out next Tuesday, for example, or the trade show next month.

These are managed as isolated events, and unfortunately are often measured as isolated events.

How much pipeline did the lunch and learn generate?

Research has shown definitively that a siloed approach to marketing has a direct correlation to a negative perception of marketing performance and impact.

A campaign mentality is better but still limited.

We look at email vs roadshows to evaluate which worked better, which generated more leads and/or opportunities.

As a newbie, you are probably spending hours in front of your screen looking for the best opportunities to invest or day trade in the market.

You may have also gone through your dose of trading strategies to study the charts and the graphs concerning individual trades.

Once you feel the setup is in the right place as far as stock is concerned, you put in your money in the hope of earning high returns.

The reason is simple and in one sentence – the absence of an exit strategy.

Most investors including wannabe traders fail to earn profits in the market as they are unable to figure out the perfect EXIT STRATEGY, let alone a ‘perfect strategy’, they don’t even have a good enough exit strategy.

When you decide on order with your brokerage firm, it is just half the job done.

It's time to identify which parts of your old strategy worked and which ones you'll need to throw out.

According to a report by Content Marketing Institute, 83 percent of marketers consider a content strategy very effective in increasing revenue.

This is a significant increase from the 74 percent who placed confidence in the strategy the previous year.

For increased web traffic, a growth in leads, more loyal customers and that spike in revenue in 2018, a closer look at your content strategy is necessary.

For instance, Cisco estimates that visual content will account for 82 percent of all internet consumer traffic by 2021.

But it’s not for everybody, amirite?

That’s totally understandable given the obscene pressure to stand out in a sea of competition when all you really want to do is focus on creating an awesome product or service.

Marketing is especially important for startups because the truth is: A great product alone is not enough to succeed.

It’s the way you speak, persuade, and build relationships with your (future) customers that helps your company take off.

It doesn’t matter if you’re a SaaS business or a new corner store selling vegan snacks.

The fact is, you need great marketing to spread the word and propel your company forward.

There have been more posts than I can count about how to make a compelling case for a content marketing strategy.

If you search on Google for “business case for content marketing strategy” (yes, in quotes), you’ll get more than 10 million results.

Examining the business case for strategic content marketing brings up value-focused terms such as “optimized brand engagement,” “better leads,” “higher shopping cart value,” “lower churn,” or even “direct revenue.” In other words, in prioritizing marketing activities, we make the case that content marketing has the potential for more value.

The lack of a centralized approach could be costing the business, but a centralized process could slow things to a point where it hurts sales and revenue, and teams would move more slowly.

It makes the case that all content and all customer experiences should be managed from one “brain.” It doesn’t address the real world of global differences, skill sets, talent, and technology prowess.

This might be the most common and certainly the simplest business case for a content strategy.

Research has shown definitively that a siloed approach to marketing has a direct correlation to a negative perception of marketing performance and impact.

A campaign mentality is better but still limited.

We look at email vs roadshows to evaluate which worked better, which generated more leads and/or opportunities.
