Web still looking pretty toxic

You read it here first: the much-feared Chrome adblockalypse is likely be a soaking wet squib – with many kinds of digital irritant permitted.

As we noted back in December, you need to read the fine print of the industry trade group's standards to know this, though.

The Coalition for Better Ads, which includes ad duopoly Google and Facebook and clickbait-slinger Taboola, "addressed" four kinds of desktop ad and eight kinds of mobile ad last March.

Google admits as much here.

Adblock Plus developer Eyeo, meanwhile, said only 16.4 per cent of ads that Eyeo deems objectionable are blocked by Chrome's bazooka (see the full spreadsheet here).

Under the leadership of Scott Pruitt, President Trump's EPA is a boon to the industry.

The Trump administration has been appointing people close to the industry to key energy and environmental positions in the first six months after taking office.Last week, Trump announced his intention to nominate Michael Dourson as the director of the agency’s Office of Chemicals and Pesticides.

However, most of the comments made by the American Chemistry Council (ACC), the chemical manufacturer's largest trade association, were opposed.

The following are some of the factors that have the greatest impact on chemical safety.Excluded important sources of chemical exposure in the EPA's safety assessmentIn response to the opinions of the ACC and other chemical industries, the US Environmental Protection Agency has given its own discretion to exclude important sources of chemical exposure from safety assessments.

Apple may prevent you from your own iPhone repair if it proceeds to block legislation.

Legislation that would give phone buyers and third-party repairers the legal right to purchase spare parts is under fire from iPhone maker Apple, which claims the so-called right to repair would put consumers at risk.

That is according to a Motherboard report claiming that an Apple representative, staffer, or lobbyist will testify against the bill.

One of the arguments it is considering deals with the danger of lithium batteries, according to the publication s sources.

Nebraska is one of eight states — the others include Minnesota, Massachusetts, Kansas, and Wyoming, Illinois, and Tennessee — considering the passage of right to repair bills, thanks in large part to aggressive lobbying.

Repair.org, a trade organization of independent shops which argue they ve been harmed by monopolizing manufacturers, hopes that by getting a single state to pass a right-to-repair bill will pressure manufacturers to cede the legal point.

Apple is limiting ad tracking in its Safari browser, which will make it harder for ad buyers to target niche audiences.

Although this move protects users’ data privacy, it’s likely to hurt advertiser conversions and reduce CPMs for publishers that rely heavily on third-party data.

On Tuesday, Apple will update the operating system of its web browser Safari so users can’t be tracked by third parties for more than 24 hours after visiting a website.

In response, six ad industry groups let Apple know they were frustrated, publishing an open letter last week stating that this move will sabotage the internet’s economy.

In 2014, Apple CEO Tim Cook criticized ad supported businesses like Facebook.

Julie Rezek, North American president at ad agency HackerAgency, said Apple’s restrictions on retargeting data could hurt conversions and reduce reach by making it harder for advertisers to find users who fit specific demographics.

When it comes to your gemstones or jewelry, you need to find a great diamond buyer.

It's certainly okay to do business with just any diamond buyer if you are opening a jewelry store or want to find a store to carry your designs.

See what similar diamonds are selling for on eBay and other online businesses to find out what their price range is.

It is possible to obtain certification as a buyer or seller of gemstones and jewelry through several organizations.

The American Gem Trade Association, the International Society of Appraisers, the International Watch and Jewelry Guild, and the American Gemological Institute (GIA) are among these organizations.

You cannot just tell the buyer the five C's of your stone in order to get a true and accurate quote.
