What's the perfect fate for a troll?

Should we go back to ancient times and make them wear a sign around their necks, as we grunt "Unclean, unclean" at them?

Should they be sent to troll prison, there to troll each other until only one troll is left standing?

(Then we send that troll to a real jail.)

A New York baker has decided that the best way is to shove their words back down their throats.

Troll Cakes, the brainchild of New York baker Kat Thek, offers to create a cake with a troll's words printed on it and then send it to the troll.

We're not going to say that Automated Transactions LLC is a "patent troll," but several others have.

The Credit Union National Association called ATL a troll—they even illustrated the accusation with a picture of a troll.

Individual lawyers, legal commentators, and banks have all described ATL as a troll.

Inventor and ATL founder David Barcelou got so fed up with people labeling his firm a patent troll that he sued about a dozen individuals and organizations for libel in 2016.

And on Thursday, February 14, the New Hampshire Supreme Court heard oral arguments about whether to overrule the lower court's decision and allow the lawsuit to move forward.

But under the law, defamation is limited to factual claims that can be shown to be clearly false.

The term trolling stems from the internet slang ‘troll’, which is a person who starts arguments or upsets people by posting inflammatory, extraneous messages online.

The aim of a troll is to provoke other online users into an emotional response often for their own amusement.

Trolling is the associated verb to ‘troll’ and was originally thought to be the same as ‘flaming’ – defined as a a hostile interaction between online users which often involved insults and profanity.

However, the term troll has changed to refer to any content that targets another person.

Trolling has often been put in the same category as cyberbullying, but there are subtle differences between the two.

The goal of the cyberbully is to harass and harm and while some trolls do enagage in cyberbullying, others troll to create mischief that does not harass or harm an individual or group.

Blizzard revealed at BlizzCon 2018 that the next Hearthstone expansion is Rastakhan’s Rumble, a troll-themed set that will offer a new single-player adventure and mechanic.

Rastakhan, the king of the Zandalari and the ruler of the great troll empire, has called forth the troll tribes of Azeroth to witness the “knock-down, drag-out, no-holds-barred, rough-and-tumble, beautifically brutal gladiatorial celebration” known as Rastakhan’s Rumble.

The game will offer nine legendary troll champions, one for each hero class of Hearthstone, accompanied by Loa, powerful primal gods worshipped by trolls which will also be represented by legendary cards in the expansion.

Revealed cards for the set include Hir’eek, the Bat (one of the troll champions as an 8-cost 1/1 Warlock minion with a Battlecry ability that fills the player’s board with copies of it), and Shirvallah, the Tiger (one of the Loa as a 25-cost 7/5 Paladin minion with Divine Shield, Rush, Lifesteal, and an ability that reduces its cost by 1 for each mana that the player has spent on spells for the match).

The Loa will each also come with a Spirit, which are minions with potent passive powers that come with Stealth for one round.

An example is Spirit of the Shark, a 4-cost 0/3 Rogue minion that triggers Battlecries and Combos of the player’s minions twice.

Here to help you answer that question is the team behind the Mini Troll, heralded as the world’s smallest resonance speaker.

In essence, when you set the Mini Troll on, say, a desk, it spreads sound waves through the surface of the desk, thereby allowing you to create a giant speaker anywhere you want.

The Mini Troll features a “Resonance Core” that turns electromagnetic pulses into vibrations.

The speaker connects to your smartphone using Bluetooth, and has a range of 98 feet and a battery life of four hours.

But what if you want those features without paying the $399 premium that the GoPro commands?

The impressive $340 Yi 4K+ will save you a few bucks, but we as found in our Ricoh WG-M2 review, will save you even more – and is waterproof without a case, to boot.

p Entrepreneurs don’t pour all their energy into building startups just to have a patent assertion entity (PAE, or “patent troll”) attack them with patents of questionable quality.

The PAE problem is big and growing, posing a threat to startups and established companies alike, costing companies millions in defensive litigation fees and diverting money that would be better spent on innovation.

Over the past decade, there has been a 500 percent growth in patent troll lawsuits, andresearch from the Boston University School of Law found that PAE litigation results in $80 billion in lost wealth annually.

Media mostly report on patent troll cases against prominent companies, but the reality is that startups are attacked just as often, and the damage can be worse.

More than half of the businesses targeted by patent trolls make less than $10 million per year.

Despite the size of the problem, just a few meaningful solutions have emerged to fight it.

Twitter is changing up its policies with regards to nasty tweets — not by banning them or the users who created them, but by hiding them from view.

According to VP of Trust and Safety Del Harvey, and Director of Product David Gasca, Twitter has identified so-called troll behavior as such:

What we’re talking about today are troll-like behaviors that distort and detract from the public conversation on Twitter, particularly in communal areas like conversations and search.

Some of these accounts and Tweets violate our policies, and, in those cases, we take action on them.

In order to identify the behavior, the company has picked out certain patterns of behavior which it associates with troll-like accounts.

For example, a user who signs up for multiple accounts at once, or users who repeatedly tag those who don’t follow them in tweets.

the Troll developed the first concrete elements of the pillars of the bolt of the early 1980s and this connection type, the company has developed ever since.

Seismic design the main objective is to ensure that the building can withstand the earthquake without collapsing.

most Often the problem is solved by increasing the structural margin of safety, which is why the pillar joints are often oversized.

the Troll according to its new joint can be used to design pillars of sustainability, as in the joints utilized for anchoring the bolt deformation capacity earthquake load.

This can be done with thinner pillars and concrete.

Today at Mark Zuckerberg’s first of two hearings with Congress, the meme maker formerly known as the Monopoly Man made a surprise cameo in troll form to troll the Facebook founder.

Amanda Werner, made their first splash as a mascot of corporate greed during a Senate hearing with Equifax’s CEO Richard Smith.

Werner, dressed as Monopoly’s Rich Uncle Pennybags, sat just behind Smith for the entirety of his testimony, fiddling with a monocle and mopping their brow with oversize one hundred dollar bills.

“Since Zuckerberg allowed millions of Russian trolls to undermine our democracy, I assume he won’t mind if one Russian troll undermines his credibility,” Werner said in a statement on the stunt.

The gags are over the top, but they’re meant to draw attention to meaningful consumer causes.

Werner’s Equifax appearance, an undertaking by an organization called Public Citizen, was focused on highlighting consumer-hostile forced arbitration clauses.

Russian trolls have successfully swarmed Twitter and Facebook in the past year, spreading propaganda with the aim of dividing both the US and Britain ahead of important political moments like the US election and the Brexit vote.

Thousands of accounts have been suspended by Twitter over fears they influenced results and Facebook has said it will make very clear which Pages are run by a Kremlin-backed troll factory, otherwise known as the Internet Research Agency.

The Internet Research Agency employs Russians to spend all day commenting on matters using social media accounts, often taking inflammatory stances on subjects like immigration, religion and Europe.

However, many people have failed to distinguish tweets from a troll and those from real people.

Is this a Russian troll account?

bestweasel writes: The Guardian reports on another story about Russian meddling, but interestingly, this one comes from a respected Russian news source, the RBC.

From the report: "Russian trolls posing as Americans made payments to genuine activists in the U.S. to help fund protest movements on socially divisive issues.

On Tuesday, the newspaper RBC published a major investigation into the work of a so-called Russian 'troll factory' since 2015, including during the period of the U.S. election campaign, disclosures that are likely to put further spotlight on alleged Russian meddling in the election.

RBC said it had identified 118 accounts or groups in Facebook, Instagram and Twitter that were linked to the troll factory, all of which had been blocked in August and September this year as part of the U.S. investigation into Russian electoral meddling.

Perhaps the most alarming element of the article was the claim that employees of the troll factory had contacted about 100 real U.S.-based activists to help with the organization of protests and events.

RBC claimed the activists were contacted by Facebook group administrators hiding their Russian origin and were offered financial help to pay for transport or printing costs.
