Today is your last chance to lock into the $35 per month price for YouTube TV.

The streaming video service price jumps to $40 per month for new subscribers as of tomorrow.

But if you sign up by 11:59 p.m. PT today -- Monday, March 12 -- you'll be grandfathered in to the lower monthly price going forward.

YouTube TV is completely separate from Google's free online video site, with which it shares a name.

It offers more than 50 channels of live online streaming video, with on-demand and unlimited could DVR functions.

It competes directly with other so-called "cord-cutting" services, including Sling TV, Hulu with Live TV, PlayStation Vue, DirecTV Now, and Fubo.

Normal size security update for July as Microsoft delivers first fix for its HoloLen product

Microsoft has delivered an average sized Patch Tuesday security update for July that addresses a total of 54 vulnerabilities, 19 of which are rated as critical.

The patches over the usual Microsoft suspects including Windows (7, 8.1, 10); its Edge web browser, Internet Explorer; Windows Server; and Office.

But Redmond has also for the first time issued a patch update for its virtual reality computer, Hololens.

As is usual, the advise for system administrators is to pay immediate attention to the 19 critical patches, as these can lead to remote code execution if left unpatched.

But the good news is that none of these flaws are currently being exploited in the wild.

Patches to the Linux kernel have been trickling in over the past few weeks.

Microsoft has been testing the Windows updates in the Insider program since November, and it is expected to put the alterations into mainstream Windows builds on Patch Tuesday next week.

Accordingly, modern operating systems all depend on a broad concept called virtual memory.

Virtual memory systems allow both programs and the kernels themselves to operate in a simple, clean, uniform environment.

This is the fundamental technique used to provide "protected memory;" one program cannot corrupt or tamper with the memory of another program, because the other program's memory simply isn't part of the first program's mapping.

The TLB isn't very big—typically a few hundred mappings in total—and the more page tables a system uses, the less likely it is that the TLB will include any particular virtual-to-physical translation.

You won't need binoculars to catch this shiny display: Jupiter will be at its biggest and brightest Tuesday night.

The gas giant will be in opposition — opposite the sun — rising high in the sky in the east shortly after sunset.

The largest planet in the solar system will be at its highest around midnight local time.

This stunning view doesn't come around too often.

"Jupiter comes to opposition about every 13 months," EarthSky.org reports.

Since the sun will shine directly on Jupiter, the planet will be brighter than ever.

As part of Giving Tuesday, Google has added a new Donate button to its knowledge graph when you search for recognized nonprofit organizations.

The Donate button allows you to directly contribute money to nonprofits when searching for them on the web, though the organization also has to enroll with Google for the button to appear.

(I checked through large organizations like the American Red Cross, UNICEF, Planned Parenthood, and Feed The Children, but did not find the buttons available yet.)

Unlike Facebook’s Charitable Givings feature that has gotten popular with users who “donate” their birthdays to fundraising, Google does not charge a fee when donations are made through its button.

(Facebook charges 5 percent for donations made within the US.)

However, for Giving Tuesday, Facebook says it is working with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to match up to $2 million in donations, and it will waive the usual 5 percent fee for contributions made this on its platform today.

Digital music giant Spotify is joining the stock market on Tuesday, making it the biggest consumer tech company to go public since Snap debuted early last year.

But unlike Snap, Spotify isn’t doing an IPO.

The “o” part of IPO stands for offering and Spotify isn’t raising any money.

Instead, existing Spotify shareholders will be selling shares directly onto the stock market.

This means that employees, venture capitalists or anyone else who managed to buy Spotify shares on the “secondary markets” can make money right away.

But Spotify doesn’t know yet how many will want to sell their shares.

Sources have said that technology superpower Google is set to face the music on Tuesday, as European Union antitrust regulators are rumoured to have made a final decision against its Android operating system.

A meeting deciding the company’s fate had been scheduled by the European Commission for last Tuesday, however it was moved without warning.

A person familiar with the matter told Reuters the meeting is now set for 17 July, without giving a reason for the change.

It is suspected that the meeting was moved to avoid a clash with US President Donald Trump’s trip to Brussels.

The record-breaking fine could reach as high as $11bn (£8.2bn), which is 10 per cent of its parent company Alphabet’s global turnover.

Large number of patches from Microsoft this month, as Adobe warns of five critical issues

Microsoft has pushed out its monthly Patch Tuesday security update that fixes a total of 82 vulnerabilities, spread across 14 updates for its software.

Amongst these fixes were one zero-day vulnerability that was being exploited in the wild, as well as and three newly revealed bugs that have yet to be exploited.

Meanwhile Adobe has also pushed out fixes for five critical vulnerabilities, two of which are for its much maligned Flash media player.

Flash is of course being retired slowly, with support for it due to end in 2020.

The 82 Microsoft patches for September cover a range of its products, 39 of which could result in Remote Code Execution (RCE).

The F8 conference has been a platform where Facebook showed the world its ambitions.

From blanketing the world with internet connectivity to showcasing its most advanced research — such as technologies that allow your brain to type or your skin to hear — Facebook proves that it is not afraid to dream big.

Leading up to this year’s F8, the company’s vice president of consumer hardware, Andrew Bosworth, said “we’ll share the biggest AR/VR news from Facebook to date” in a tweet.

Facebook’s big ambitions may be more muted this year given that the company had to answer hard questions about privacy when it found itself embroiled in the Cambridge Analytica breach.

One of its biggest dreamers, Regina Dugan, has even left her post as head of the company’s experimental research group.

At F8 this year, Facebook must show that it can balance consumer interests and developer needs, which can often conflict.

The Realme 5 is already available in India, surpassing the 120,000 units milestone of devices sold in the first day.

Unfortunately, the device still is out of stock more often than not.

However, things will now be less complicated for customers that are willing to get a unit of the handset.

According to a post on Realme’s official Twitter account, the company will be holding sales for the Realme 5 every Tuesday starting at 12 PM.

It’s time to add more fun and excitement to your Tuesdays as realme5 will be available on sale every Tuesday at 12 PM on @Flipkart and https://t.co/reDVoAlOE1.

While the supply is still far from matching the demand, at least it is giving some steps to reach this goal.

Roku streaming players and TVs suffered a service outage Tuesday afternoon, with many users reporting they couldn't access Netflix, YouTube and other channels.

As of early Wednesday morning, however, Roku's support on twitter said the issue had been fixed, and that apps for Netflix and YouTube, among others, were back online.

During the outage Roku users received a message related to copyright infringement.

"We use that warning when we detect content that has violated copyright," Roku said in a statement.

"Some channels in our Channel Store displayed that message and became inaccessible after Roku implemented a targeted anti-piracy measure on the platform."

It wasn't immediately clear how many customers were affected by the outage.

After years of accusing Samsung of cribbing its designs and ideas, Apple seems to be looking to its smartphone rival for inspiration for the next iPhone. The Wall Street Journal dropped a big report Tuesday on what to expect from the next iPhone, and a lot of the new features are things that have become defining elements of a Samsung device.Let's break it down:A curved screen.

The WSJ report says the iPhone will have a curved screen.

This was a feature that Samsung first introduced in 2014 with the Galaxy Note Edge and later streamlined a few months later with the Galaxy S6.

There won't be a "flat" screen option.OLED display.

The report backs up several other claims that the next iPhone will use a new type of screen technology called OLED.

OLED is more power efficient and shows color better than the LCD screens Apple has used since the very first iPhone.

Microsoft emitted a patch for all supported versions of Outlook on Patch Tuesday to prevent attackers harvesting credentials from users who simply preview a carefully crafted Rich Text (RTF) email.

The vulnerability (CVE-2018-0950) exploited Outlook’s unfortunate habit of retrieving remotely hosted Object Linking and Embedding (OLE) content when previewing a RTF email.

The Windows client was able to authenticate itself if that content was hosted on SMB/CIFS server.

If the SMB server was controlled by the attacker, then Windows had effectively handed over the user’s login credentials, including a hashed password, without any interaction on behalf of the user other than the email being rendered.

And let’s face it, most users generally are unlikely to have a particularly strong password, meaning that cracking the hash would not have presented a problem for a determined attacker.

Microsoft’s OLE technology was surely the gift that keeps on giving as far as hackers are concerned.
