The Galaxy Note 10 doesn't have a hardware button for Bixby, Samsung's AI smart assistant.

Bixby debuted on the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus in 2017 and was an attempt to answer Apple's Siri on the iPhone, the Google Assistant on pretty much any Android phone and Amazon's Alexa.

Fine, but the biggest issue with Bixby has to do with the placement of a dedicated hardware button that triggered the assistant.

Frequently when grabbing a Galaxy phone, it was easy to accidentally press the Bixby key and activate the assistant when you didn't want to.

Samsung also did away with the headphone jack on the new Note and there will no doubt be people mourning its loss.

However, news that the Note 10 will lack the Bixby Key might actually spur figurative celebrations and parties.

Samsung's latest line of premium phones have a nearly bezel-less and almost notch-free screen, 3D camera sensors on the back, an in-screen fingerprint scanner and 5G connectivity.

And though we can't predict the future (yet), here's how the two stack up, based on the most plausible rumors we've heard so far about the 2019 iPhone lineup.

For the first time ever, Samsung is offering two different sizes of the Note: the 6.3-inch Note 10, and the larger 6.8-inch Note 10 Plus.

Both have an edge-to-edge AMOLED display that spans nearly the entire front of the phone, and a tiny circular hole at the top for the front camera.

The phones have a glass back and come in four different iridescent colors: Aura White, Aura Black, Aura Glow and Aura Blue (exclusive to the Note 10 Plus).

Save for a few minor tweaks, the iPhone 11 is rumored to have the same design as its predecessors, which includes three screen options: two phones with 5.8- and 6.5-inch OLED displays, and a 6.1-inch version with an LCD display.

When I started writing about the smart home in 2013, influential startup Dropcam, purchased by Google's Nest in 2014, set the industry prices for DIY security cameras.

Dropcam cameras weren't the first to offer impressive features.

Its products helped define the contemporary concept of DIY home security technology, and video camera technology in particular.

With Wyze's pricing, my total before tax for all of those devices would come to $365 (using the $30 Cam Pan as my camera of choice over the $20 Wyze Cam).

Wyze doesn't charge for cloud video storage, either, so don't expect any monthly charges to view saved clips.

For example, if I bought two $199 Nest Cam Indoor cameras, 30 $20 Lifx Mini White bulbs, six $23 TP-Link Kasa Smart Wi-Fi Plug Mini smart plugs and one $399 Nest Secure system (which includes two door/window/motion sensors), I'd end up spending $1,535 (not including tax).

Whatever Sonos is planning for its next speaker, it would appear to include Bluetooth connectivity, according to new devices filed with the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

Two new pieces of hardware have been logged with the FCC, the Verge reports, and one of them comes with Bluetooth on board.

It would be the first Sonos speaker to launch with Bluetooth as well as Wi-Fi capabilities.

At the moment you need to hook up Sonos speakers to your Wi-Fi network at home in order to beam music to them from a phone, tablet or laptop on the same network.

Bluetooth would allow direct phone-to-speaker connectivity.

With popular models like the Google Nest Hub (formerly the Google Home Hub) and the Amazon Echo Show 5 leading the way, the smart display category has blossomed over the past year.

Almost a dozen smart displays have hit the market, with a new batch launching this summer.

Thanks to the built-in Google Assistant, the Nest Hub responds to all of the same voice commands as the Google Home Mini smart speaker.

The touchscreen is a little small at 7 inches, but the adaptive brightness makes pictures look particularly great.

Unlike most of the other smart displays, the Nest Hub doesn't have a camera, but that might be a bonus if you have privacy concerns and want to put it in your bedroom.

The colorful fabric design can blend in anywhere, though the touchscreen comes in particularly handy if you want step-by-step help through a recipe in the kitchen.

American software giant Google has made its move for greener pastures with the release of its very own flagship of smartphones.

If you’re an Android fan looking for an upgrade, then consider yourself lucky as Amazon reduced the $799 list price of a factory unlocked Google Pixel 3 by 38%.

If $499 doesn’t cut it for you, you could qualify for another $50 discount with your Amazon Rewards Visa Card, making it one of the best smartphone deals you’ll find today.

Since this smartphone is factory unlocked, this Google Pixel 3 would work with any carrier of your choice with the plan that suits your lifestyle.

Also, its sale price of $499 may be a lot less than the actual price you’re willing to pay to lease your device on a monthly basis.

It has a 5.5-inch OLED screen with a 2,260 x 1,080 resolution that makes the Pixel 3’s display sharp, well-saturated, and more natural.

Reports earlier this week that Roku had apparently canceled its planned voice assistants may have called the code prematurely.

The Roku voice assistant was originally announced way back in January 2018, but in the time since then, Roku hasn’t said very much about it.

As it turns out, Roku hasn’t canned its voice assistant as originally reported, but when it does finally arrive, it might not be exactly what you’re expecting.

The news that Roku had cancelled its voice assistant came in a profile about the company from The Wall Street Journal.

Since then, Roku has reached out to confirm that its efforts in voice were, in fact, still ongoing.

“We are continuing to build more voice capabilities into our platform,” Roku vice president of communications Tricia Mifsud told SlashGear, noting that those voice capabilities are called “Roku Voice.”

The software will first appear in smart screen devices and will eventually be available on wearables and in-car systems too.

The debut comes as President Trump said the US will cut its ties with Huawei.

On Friday, Chinese tech giant Huawei unveiled its new HarmonyOS software— an operating system for its upcoming electronic devices.

The launch comes as Huawei remains on a blacklist that prevents it from working with American software giants like Google.

In the wake of Huawei's announcement, President Trump said on Friday that the United States will cut its ties with the Chinese tech behemoth.

The move comes just after China had stopped purchasing American agricultural products, a response to the Trump administration's latest round of tariffs on Chinese imports.

HP's latest Chromebook x360 has made its way to India in a convertible form factor.

The Chromebook x360 is an extension as it exists in Google's ecosystem of products which is why PC users who constantly rely on Google's suite of apps should feel right at home.

That's not to mean that users won't be able to use Microsoft Office suite on the Chromebook.

HP Chromebook x360 features and pricing

HP Chromebook x360 takes certain cues from the company's Pavilion lineup.

It feels a bit premium in hand due to the anodized aluminum finish of the chassis and ceramic-like white matte finish on the lid.

With random, record-breaking heatwaves immediately followed by severe thunderstorms this summer, it’s good to know what to expect when you head out.

That’s why we have compiled a list of the best U.K. weather forecast apps that will give you accurate, up-to-date information, whether you live in the busy suburbs of London or a small village in the middle of nowhere.

What better place to get your weather forecast than the U.K.’s national weather service?

This includes severe weather warnings alerts, a rainfall map, information on wind speed and direction, and more.

Just like the Met Office app, you get information on what the temperature feels like, although the rain information is more limited.

BBC Weather also has you covered if you love complaining about the weather on social media, with easily shareable forecasts.

Remember when OnePlus offered top tier specs for ridiculously low prices?

Not that you’d know, because OnePlus’ voice seems to have a far greater reach than Xiaomi’s in the U.K. and Europe.

While Xiaomi’s growth in Europe has been rapid, the OnePlus brand’s “flagship killers” carry a certain prestige and rabid fan following that eludes the superior value Mi 9.

For under ÂŁ400 you get a flagship Qualcomm processor and 6GB RAM paired with 64GB storage, which is more than enough and keeps the phone running buttery smooth without a hitch.

I have even started playing some mobile games in my spare time, since the Mi 9 can handle them with little effort.

Many people look at the four-digit long string on the spec sheet to determine what kind of battery performance they should expect, but it’s not always that simple.

Happy one-year anniversary, I guess, to the Samsung Galaxy Home, which was announced a year ago today.

The Bixby speaker was announced at the Note 9 launch in 2018, we just had the Note 10 launch in 2019, and the event came and went without a ship date or even a mention for Samsung's smart speaker.

The Galaxy Home was supposed to be Samsung's answer to the Amazon Echo and Google Home—a smart speaker with a voice assistant inside, but the development is taking forever.

The Galaxy Home's absence at Samsung's latest event didn't go unnoticed by the media.

Samsung confirmed to The Verge the device isn't cancelled, saying, “We’re continuing to refine and enhance the Galaxy Home prior to launch, and look forward to sharing more with Galaxy fans soon.”

Samsung's whole assistant push with Bixby always seemed questionable, as it puts Samsung in the position of having to be an ecosystem creator, something it has not typically done.

Finally, you connect the plug to your favorite home assistant, such as Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant, or the smart plug’s app.

Here are just a few to get your imagination turned on to all of the possibilities:

Turn on your coffee pot while you’re still in bed.

Control your window unit air conditioner or space heater without getting out of your chair.

Turn off the oven, curling iron, or hair straightener you left on from your desk at work.

Turn on your holiday lights using a voice command.

In the run-up to the next Made By Google event typically held later in the autumn, Google has already shared the first official picture of the Pixel 4, along with info on all the fancy sensors and tech stashed inside its top bezel.

But now, based on some new leaks uncovered by 9to5Google, we’re getting an even better idea of what to expect on the Pixel 4, including details regarding a few interesting new features.

Starting with the general specs, it appears that the Pixel 4's screen will be getting a small bump up to 5.7 inches, up from 5.5 inches on the Pixel 3, while the Pixel 4 XL is holding pat with a 6.3-inch display.

Both phones also reportedly feature the same resolutions as last year, with the Pixel 4 getting a full HD+ screen (probably around 2160 x 1080), while the Pixel 4 XL gets a QHD+ display with a resolution around 2960 x 1440.

But what may even be more important is that both Pixel 4 may get OLED screens with a “Super Smooth” 90Hz refresh rate, which is a feature Samsung failed to add to the recently announced Galaxy Note 10.

This would put the Pixel 4 in a select crowd of phones with above-average refresh rates including the OnePlus 7 Pro and ROG Phone 2, whose screens tend to offer a more responsive and more fluid viewing experience.

Google has made it clear that it is going all-in on podcasts not only as an entertainment medium but also as a source for information.

As part of that ambition, the company announced today that you can now find — and listen to — podcasts episodes right in your Google Search results.

Similarly to how video, news, and image results appear in a separate area after conducting certain Search queries, so will podcast episodes.

The feature is live right now on the web version of Search for users in the United States searching for topics using the English language.

Eventually, you’ll also be able to find and listen to podcasts using Google Assistant.

However, this functionality isn’t present yet.

got on a call with a few Google product managers yesterday to talk about this issue, and I came away better understanding the company’s reasoning behind these changes.

Unlike much of the community, though, I don’t think Google has gone too far.

But what’s brewing in this seemingly small teapot is the future of the operating system used by the majority of people today — one that’s bigger than the iPhone and bigger even than Windows.

So although it will take some time for Android Q to arrive on most phones (Android updates are a whole other controversy), it will eventually.

You hate to see it, especially since it was totally predictable.

Twitter’s web redesign is just the latest example in a long history of hating new layouts.

Sonos is readying something new, with the company sending out press invites to discuss what seems to be a 2019 update to the range.

The smart speaker company is tight-lipped on what’s on the roadmap for this year, but we should be getting a closer look at its fall range with a preview in New York City soon.

It’s fair to say that Sonos is enjoying a high right now.

After concerns that affordable smart speakers from Amazon and Google might dissuade buyers from picking up its more expensive models, and the lengthy delay in bringing the Google Assistant to the Sonos One and Beam, some had begun to question whether the company’s struggles were a sign of something more ominous.

Instead, Sonos inked a deal with IKEA and the Swedish retail behemoth brought the first two SYMFONISK speakers to market last month.

Considerably more affordable, yet still compatible with the rest of Sonos’ range, they’re likely to expose a whole new audience to the streaming media company.

Google is taking the next step in making podcasts easier to find.

The company will now surface individual podcast episodes in search results, so if someone searches for a show about a niche topic or an interview with a specific person, Google will show them potential podcast episodes that fit their query.

The company will also soon allow people to ask Google Assistant to play podcasts about specific topics, and it’ll find episodes to play.

For now, people have to search using the word “podcast,” so if you want to find a show that talks about golden retrievers, you’ll have to search “podcasts about golden retrievers” or “golden retriever podcast.” Once you choose one to listen to, it’ll open in Google Podcasts’ web app.

The same command structure applies to Google Assistant, so users will have to say, “Hey Google, play a podcast about golden retrievers.”

Eventually, Google says it’ll support third-party playback, which is important for podcasts that are exclusive to certain platforms.
