The newly announced Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus is the latest top-of-the-line flagship handset in the Note family.

It has lots of high-end features, including a huge screen, plenty of RAM and onboard storage, an embedded stylus, and much more.

Let’s compare the specs and price of the Note 10 Plus with the Apple iPhone XS Max.

The Galaxy Note 10 Plus is almost as large as the Galaxy S10 5G, which was first released just a few months ago in May 2019.

The screen itself is a huge 6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED Infinity-O display with 498ppi and a resolution of 3,040 x 1,440.

The Note 10 Plus’ other hardware features include an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor, an IP68 rating, and a way to access Samsung’s digital assistant Bixby directly from its power button.

Look up “Note 10 stainless steel” or “Note 10 aluminum” on Google and you’ll find articles from various tech websites giving conflicting claims over what Samsung’s new phone is made from.

Some say it’s aluminum while others say stainless steel.

Even a Galaxy Note 10 megathread on the Android subreddit claims it’s stainless steel.

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10 Plus have aluminum frames, not stainless steel.

We’ve downloaded and uploaded it to our own server in case Samsung takes it down.

The original video had 2.8 million views, whereas the new one sits at more than 238,000 views.

A new report says that Apple is using some kind of mechanism that essentially throws up a massive error message if anyone other than an Apple technician attempts to put a new battery in an iPhone — even if the battery itself is an Apple product.

The report comes from Craig Lloyd of iFixit, and shows what the warning looks like.

The user receives a “Service” notification alerting them to a problem with the new battery and directing them to the Settings app.

In the Battery Health settings, an Important Message reads: “Unable to verify this iPhone has a genuine Apple battery.

Health information not available for this battery.”

iFixit confirmed this service message appears in the iPhones XR, XS, and XS Max.If you want to see it in action, check this video from The Art of Repair YouTube channel, who spotted the problem first:

By splitting the lineup into two sizes, Samsung was able to make one of its boldest choices since it introduced the original Note in 2011: it actually made the newest Note‘s screen a bit smaller.

My very first impression was “I want the smaller model.” The 6.3-inch panel may make it seem the phone isn’t much smaller than last year’s 6.4-inch Note 9, but in practice, the sliver-thin bezels mean the Note 10 is refreshingly small.

The only notable difference is that the camera module is shaped like a capsule rather than a squircle, which looks generically similar to the rear setup you’ll see on Huawei phones and iPhones.

But the Note is far from the only phone with beastly specs nowadays – in fact, they’re not necessarily better than something like the far cheaper OnePlus 7 Pro.

And in any case, smartphone specs offer diminishing returns by the year.

It’s a good thing then that Samsung has one thing no-one else has: The S Pen.

When it comes to repairing an iPhone, Apple hasn’t exactly been shy about doing everything it can to drive people away from independent shops.

The company has tried to make third-party or DIY repair difficult for end users, preferring that they take their iPhones to an Apple Store for repair instead.

The latest move against DIY repair sees Apple hiding health data about replaced batteries – even if the battery you’re using as a replacement is an official Apple one.

As detailed by The Art of Repair on YouTube and further expanded on by iFixit, attempting to replace the battery in newer iPhone models will often trigger a “Service” alert in the phone’s Battery Health menu.

Typically, that menu will surface information about your battery’s maximum capacity and peak performance capability, giving you a better idea of when your battery needs to be replaced.

However, when you replace the battery yourself or go to an independent shop and have them replace the battery, you’ll often see a message in the Battery Health menu that reads, “Unable to verify this iPhone has a genuine Apple battery.

That means if you try to replace it yourself or at any repair shop that isn't authorized by Apple, you will see a message indicating that your battery needs to be serviced.

This message will appear even if you replace your current battery with one of Apple's batteries, the report says.

Visit Business Insider's homepage for more stories.

If you try to replace the battery in your iPhone XR, iPhone XS, or iPhone XS Max by any means other than through an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider, you may see a message indicating that the battery needs to be serviced, according to a new report from iFixit.

Those who replace their iPhone's battery themselves outside of Apple's channels will see a service indicator appear in the Battery Health section of the device's settings menu, says iFixit.

That service indicator typically means that your iPhone's battery needs to be replaced because it may be degrading.

The latest to be introduced is Samsung’s impressively sized and equipped Galaxy Note 10 Plus.

The Note 10 Plus, with its 6.8-inch display, may boast the largest screen currently available in the US market.

(It is outmatched by at least one non-US phone, the Huawei Honor Note 10, with a 6.95-inch display.)

Although the Note 10 Plus measures 6.39 x 3.04 x 0.31 inches, Samsung’s own Galaxy S10 5G (which has a 6.7-inch display) beats it by a hair at 6.40 x 3.04 x 0.31 inches.

And although the Pixel 3 XL isn’t all that much smaller at 6.22 x 3.02 x 0.31 inches, its display is a relatively modest 6.3 inches.

Other alternatives in the “bigger is better” sweepstakes include Samsung’s Galaxy S10 Plus (6.4-inch display), the OnePlus 7 Pro (6.7-inch display), and Apple’s iPhone XS Max (6.5-inch display).

The Samsung Galaxy Note 10 is, by no means, a small phone.

Its 6.3-inch AMOLED screen is just a few millimeters smaller than the iPhone XS Max’s display.

But, as Dieter Bohn noted in his hands-on impressions post, the Note 10 is something different for Samsung.

While the Note 10 Plus feels more like the true Note 9 successor, the Note 10 has a similar feel in the hand to smaller phones like the Samsung Galaxy S10 and the iPhone XS.

So it’s worth comparing to other smaller flagship phones that you might also be considering.

There’s a lot that sets the Note 10 apart from those other devices.
