Samsung has made a mistake in the promotional campaign for its brand new Galaxy Note 10.

The Korean giant has in fact exaggerated in a detail about its new phones.

In fact, during a promotional video – now removed and then republished in the correct version – you can find it at the end of the article – Samsung initially boasted that the frame of the Galaxy Note 10 was made of stainless steel, based on what Apple has been doing since iPhone X.

We do not know if it was a misunderstanding of communication between the various offices within Samsung, or if the initial design of the Galaxy Note 10 really provided for the use of steel for the frame.

The Galaxy Note 10 doesn't have a hardware button for Bixby, Samsung's AI smart assistant.

Bixby debuted on the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus in 2017 and was an attempt to answer Apple's Siri on the iPhone, the Google Assistant on pretty much any Android phone and Amazon's Alexa.

Fine, but the biggest issue with Bixby has to do with the placement of a dedicated hardware button that triggered the assistant.

Frequently when grabbing a Galaxy phone, it was easy to accidentally press the Bixby key and activate the assistant when you didn't want to.

Samsung also did away with the headphone jack on the new Note and there will no doubt be people mourning its loss.

However, news that the Note 10 will lack the Bixby Key might actually spur figurative celebrations and parties.

Hackers and security researchers at the Black Hat and Defcon conferences in Las Vegas this week tackled everything from election security to misinformation campaigns to Android malware that comes preinstalled on your devices.

Meanwhile, Samsung grabbed the spotlight by unveiling its Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10 Plus phones alongside a superthin Galaxy Book S laptop.

It was also a big week for weird science news, like tardigrades on the moon, the discovery of a prehistoric dog-size parrot and Jupiter getting slammed by something massive.

Samsung's latest line of premium phones have a nearly bezel-less and almost notch-free screen, 3D camera sensors on the back, an in-screen fingerprint scanner and 5G connectivity.

And though we can't predict the future (yet), here's how the two stack up, based on the most plausible rumors we've heard so far about the 2019 iPhone lineup.

For the first time ever, Samsung is offering two different sizes of the Note: the 6.3-inch Note 10, and the larger 6.8-inch Note 10 Plus.

Both have an edge-to-edge AMOLED display that spans nearly the entire front of the phone, and a tiny circular hole at the top for the front camera.

The phones have a glass back and come in four different iridescent colors: Aura White, Aura Black, Aura Glow and Aura Blue (exclusive to the Note 10 Plus).

Save for a few minor tweaks, the iPhone 11 is rumored to have the same design as its predecessors, which includes three screen options: two phones with 5.8- and 6.5-inch OLED displays, and a 6.1-inch version with an LCD display.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 10 is now available for preorder, and no doubt you're looking for ways to save money on the pricey flagship, which starts at $949.

I already rounded up a few of the best Galaxy Note 10 deals, but nearly all of those require a trade-in, a lengthy lease/service plan or both.

US Mobile just offered Cheapskate readers another option: Purchase an unlocked Note 10 or 10 Plus from Samsung or another seller, then bring it to US Mobile and save a total of $200 over 12 months.

It works like this: You buy a US Mobile SIM card (using promo code NOTE10), then sign up for the service plan of your choice.

US Mobile offers both customizable and unlimited plans for its GSM LTE and Super LTE networks (T-Mobile and Verizon, respectively).

My advice: Go Super LTE, because you get extra perks like voice-over-LTE and visual voicemail -- to say nothing of better coverage.

Look up “Note 10 stainless steel” or “Note 10 aluminum” on Google and you’ll find articles from various tech websites giving conflicting claims over what Samsung’s new phone is made from.

Some say it’s aluminum while others say stainless steel.

Even a Galaxy Note 10 megathread on the Android subreddit claims it’s stainless steel.

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10 Plus have aluminum frames, not stainless steel.

We’ve downloaded and uploaded it to our own server in case Samsung takes it down.

The original video had 2.8 million views, whereas the new one sits at more than 238,000 views.

This is an excerpt from a story delivered exclusively to Business Insider Intelligence Connectivity & Tech subscribers.

Samsung unveiled an array of new products at its Unpacked event in New York earlier this week, including a pair of new phones in its Galaxy Note series, a laptop, a new version of its smart pen, and special smartwatch variants (that build on a watch announced earlier this week).

Here are a few of the more interesting developments from that event.

Samsung partnered with Microsoft to bridge the gap between Windows and Android.

Microsoft will bundle its Your Phone app on the forthcoming Galaxy Note 10.

The photo gallery app on the Galaxy Note 10 will also sync to Microsoft's OneDrive cloud storage service, in a similar functionality to that which Google provides via its Photos app for its Pixel phones.

After touting the launch of the world's first 5G network in December, it still hasn't made it available to anyone aside from select, friendly business customers.

CNET's speed test of 5G networks around the world, spanning everywhere from Seoul to London and many cities in between, have found startling high speeds but limited or spotty coverage.

All new network deployments have their fair share of growing pains, but this generation's rollout has been far more problematic.

If the last few years have been all about building up hype for when 5G becomes reality, 2019 has been about sustaining that hype until 5G becomes something ready for mainstream consumers.

It's been about a series of first: AT and Korean telecom player KT jockeying to be the first to launch a 5G; Verizon launching the first 5G network available to US consumers; Motorola launching the first 5G device through a Moto Mod attachment; Samsung launching the first 5G smartphone; or EE launching the first UK network.

Ultimately, this is more about bragging rights and the ability to tout network superiority over their competitors, and less about whether you as a consumer are going to get a good experience.

Apart from their size, the Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10 Plus look nearly identical.

The smaller Note 10 is Samsung's first attempt to make its Note phones appeal to smartphone users who prefer smaller phones.

Samsung's Galaxy Note phones are typically known for their giant screens, but the company's done something different with the new Galaxy Note 10.

Welcome to CHEAP, our series about things that are good, but most of all, cheap.

It’s that time of the year: everyone is regurgitating the old headphone jack debate after Samsung ditched the port with its new Galaxy Note 10 series.

You can once and for all quit whining about the inevitability of this trend with a sweet deal on Anker‘s Soundcore Liberty Neo wireless earbuds.

Amazon currently has a 33-percent discount on the Liberty Neos, which means you can cop a pair for just $40 bucks (down from the original list price of $60).

So next time the thought of grumbling about a missing headphone jack crosses your mind, remember that you have options.

Sure, incorporating a headphone jack is more user-friendly.

The Note 10 Plus, for example, is the company's first "plus" version of its Galaxy Note phone, and the Note 10 5G is Samsung's second 5G phone, after the Galaxy S10 5G.

In addition to the bigger size and next-gen network capabilities, the Note 10s come in an array of new colors and are equipped with updated camera and video editing tools, like AR Doodle.

But there are several other things we didn't get from the Note 10, too -- either specs that were dropped from the previous model or features we anticipated because of the active rumor mill that swirled around the phone before it launched.

The familiar audio port began disappearing in 2016 when Lenovo/Motorola and Apple lopped it off their phones.

But for others adamant about holding onto their wired headphones, there are still some phones available to accommodate that, including Samsung's own Galaxy S10 line.

Call of Duty: Mobile will bring the series’ classic first-person shooting gameplay to mobile devices for free when t launches later this year on both iOS and Android.

If you want to play the game earlier, however, you’ll be able to do so on the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and 10 Plus.

According to SamMobile, which attended the Samsung Unpacked event on August 7, Call of Duty: Mobile will come preloaded on all Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10 Plus phones.

The Galaxy Note 10 is being released on August 23, meaning those who purchase the phone should get access to the game well ahead of others.

A launch date for Call of Duty: Mobile has not yet been revealed, but the game is undergoing beta testing in select regions right now.

Samsung is trying to position the Galaxy Note platform as a legitimate contender for gaming, and the Play Galaxy Link feature — which allows you to use your PC to run games remotely on your phone — is part of that.

In the run-up to the next Made By Google event typically held later in the autumn, Google has already shared the first official picture of the Pixel 4, along with info on all the fancy sensors and tech stashed inside its top bezel.

But now, based on some new leaks uncovered by 9to5Google, we’re getting an even better idea of what to expect on the Pixel 4, including details regarding a few interesting new features.

Starting with the general specs, it appears that the Pixel 4's screen will be getting a small bump up to 5.7 inches, up from 5.5 inches on the Pixel 3, while the Pixel 4 XL is holding pat with a 6.3-inch display.

Both phones also reportedly feature the same resolutions as last year, with the Pixel 4 getting a full HD+ screen (probably around 2160 x 1080), while the Pixel 4 XL gets a QHD+ display with a resolution around 2960 x 1440.

But what may even be more important is that both Pixel 4 may get OLED screens with a “Super Smooth” 90Hz refresh rate, which is a feature Samsung failed to add to the recently announced Galaxy Note 10.

This would put the Pixel 4 in a select crowd of phones with above-average refresh rates including the OnePlus 7 Pro and ROG Phone 2, whose screens tend to offer a more responsive and more fluid viewing experience.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 10 is finally available, alongside Samsung’s latest 5G phone, the Galaxy Note 10+ 5G.

At launch, the Galaxy Note 10+ 5G will only be available on Verizon, but eventually, it’ll make its way to other carriers too.

And, when that happens, the T-Mobile variant will be the first phone to leverage T-Mobile’s powerful 600MHz spectrum, according to a new tweet from T-Mobile chief technology officer Neville Ray.

5G is often associated with millimeter-wave frequencies, which are the ultra-high frequencies that can transmit a lot of data at shorter distances.

But carriers are also building out other frequencies with 5G too, such as the low-band frequencies that can travel further distances, and the mid-band frequencies that offer a compromise between the two.

T-Mobile’s 600MHz frequency band is one of those low-band frequencies that’s able to travel much longer distances than mmWave frequencies.

By splitting the lineup into two sizes, Samsung was able to make one of its boldest choices since it introduced the original Note in 2011: it actually made the newest Note‘s screen a bit smaller.

My very first impression was “I want the smaller model.” The 6.3-inch panel may make it seem the phone isn’t much smaller than last year’s 6.4-inch Note 9, but in practice, the sliver-thin bezels mean the Note 10 is refreshingly small.

The only notable difference is that the camera module is shaped like a capsule rather than a squircle, which looks generically similar to the rear setup you’ll see on Huawei phones and iPhones.

But the Note is far from the only phone with beastly specs nowadays – in fact, they’re not necessarily better than something like the far cheaper OnePlus 7 Pro.

And in any case, smartphone specs offer diminishing returns by the year.

It’s a good thing then that Samsung has one thing no-one else has: The S Pen.

It has taken a while, but with the Note 10, the series has regained its identity after languishing as just another big-screen smartphone in a sea of copycats.

Yesterday, Samsung made the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10 Plus official.

The release of the two new flagships is bittersweet for many Note fans, though, because neither device comes with a headphone jack.

It appears Samsung wants to gloss over this fact by not only declining to mention it at all during yesterday’s launch event but by also attempting to hide its past advertisements.

The company’s decision to remove the much-beloved smartphone port isn’t too surprising considering multiple other OEMs — including Huawei, OnePlus, Google, and obviously Apple — have already done so.

However, Samsung was the longest holdout and also the most vocal critic of those other OEMs and their choice to ditch the port, especially when it comes to Apple.

Over the past few years, there have been multiple high-profile Samsung ads that heavily criticized Apple’s iPhone design limitations, specifically towards the removal of the headphone jack and the notched display on the iPhone X and XS.
