From Start > Settings > Accessibility > Keyboard you can make pressing the Print Screen key take a screenshot and/or open the snipping bar Windows. Valve's popular PC gaming platform Steam is vulnerable to a hugely damaging zero-day security vulnerability, experts have warned.

According to new findings, around 72 million Windows users are at risk of having their systems taken over by an attacker who could then install malware, steal data, compromise passwords and more.

The vulnerability was disclosed by security researcher Vasily Kravets, who discovered a privilege escalation vulnerability which could allow an attacker with minimal user permissions to gain the same levels of access as the system admin.

Zero-day defenses are a good reason why you need the latest version of Windows 10

A threat actor could take advantage of this by launching malware using those raised privileges, Kravets explained, saying:

"Some of the threats will remain even being run without administrator rights.

Valve's popular PC gaming platform Steam is vulnerable to a zero-day security vulnerability which could leave 72m Windows users at risk of having their systems taken over by an attacker who could then install malware, steal data, compromise passwords and more.

The vulnerability was disclosed by a security researcher named Vasily Kravets just 45 days after submitting his report on the matter to Valve.

Typically researchers wait 90 days before publicly disclosing a vulnerability as it gives the affected businesses time to fix the vulnerabilities in their software.

Kravets discovered a privilege escalation vulnerability which could allow an attacker with minimal user permissions to gain the same levels of access as the system admin.

A threat actor could take advantage of this by launching malware using those raised privileges.

Microsoft emitted two fresh builds for October's Windows 10 last night, although which one you'll get depends on your current build or, for new Insiders, a "virtual coin toss".

The company had previously warned that it would be shipping the updates that will become the 19H2 release with features turned off by default.

It could then test turning them on in a controlled manner.

Thus those cautious souls on the Slow Ring, currently prodding 19H2, will receive 18362.10012 with the new toys turned off if they are coming from 18362.10005.

Those on 18362.10006 will get 18362.10013, which has the features on.

Oh, and those in the 18362.10012 group will also have features from the previous release, such as they were, turned off as well.

This is an excerpt from a story delivered exclusively to Business Insider Intelligence Connectivity & Tech subscribers.

Samsung unveiled an array of new products at its Unpacked event in New York earlier this week, including a pair of new phones in its Galaxy Note series, a laptop, a new version of its smart pen, and special smartwatch variants (that build on a watch announced earlier this week).

Here are a few of the more interesting developments from that event.

Samsung partnered with Microsoft to bridge the gap between Windows and Android.

Microsoft will bundle its Your Phone app on the forthcoming Galaxy Note 10.

The photo gallery app on the Galaxy Note 10 will also sync to Microsoft's OneDrive cloud storage service, in a similar functionality to that which Google provides via its Photos app for its Pixel phones.

Windows 10 has introduced support for DTS:X and more immersive audio for movies and games, while bringing quality surround sound to stereo headphones – although this is all still in testing.

This functionality is delivered by the DTS Sound Unbound app which brings support for DTS:X and DTS Headphone:X to your PC (and eventually Xbox, too).

These new DTS:X technologies work together with Microsoft’s Spatial Sound framework in Windows 10.

There are a few things to note here: the free offering only allows a simple trial, and the app is still a work in progress anyway, plus you’ll need to be a Windows 10 tester.

Using the Windows Insider audience to do a last validation before GA.July 13, 2019

Specifically you’ll need to be running at least build 18898 (released back in May) or better, which is the preview for the major Windows 10 update destined to land in the first half of 2020.

Microsoft has pushed out a pair of Windows 10 preview builds for the big update due later in 2019 (19H2), one of which has all the new features turned off – and those tweaks include some interesting moves, such as the promise of better battery life for laptops running certain processors.

So what exactly is happening here regarding the overall rollout?

Windows 10 19H2 testers in the slow ring are getting two different preview builds: 18362.10012 and 18362.10013, which will be delivered to those on 18362.10005 and 18362.10006 respectively.

The difference is that the former build has all the new features turned off by default, and the latter has them turned on.

This is Microsoft’s new system of a controlled preview rollout, whereby only a subsection of testers actually get the new features live, with more being shifted over as time progresses.

Essentially, it’s just like when the updates actually go live, for real, with Microsoft monitoring how the features are working (or not), getting more feedback on them, before pushing them more broadly.

Touted as the “world’s smallest gaming laptop,” the Razer Blade 15 is now getting one of the biggest discounts: Best Buy is selling this gaming laptop for $300 off the regular price, knocking the Blade’s price down from $2,350 to $2,050.

This particular laptop comes with a 15.6-inch full HD display, an eighth-generation Intel Core i7 processor, a 512GB solid-state drive (SSD), and 16GB of RAM.

Most notably, it includes Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 graphics.

The RTX 2060 discrete graphics card offers up features like programmable shading and real-time ray tracing, and has an impressive 6,000 megabytes of video memory.

The full HD display has a resolution of 1920 x 1080, an LED backlight, and, according to Razer, up to a 144Hz refresh rate (as a base model).

The Razer Blade featured in this deal also includes a clickable glass touchpad, a backlit keyboard, a built-in infrared camera that supports Windows Hello, a single Thunderbolt 3 port, 4 USB ports, and Dolby Atmos audio.

No, I don't mean the terms and conditions...

Microsoft emitted an update to next year's Windows 10, aka 20H1, last night, with some tweaked networking and the spreading of the creepier-than-you-might-have-realised Cortana to more Insiders.

Build 18956 is very much a steady-as-she-goes affair for Fast Ring Insiders as Microsoft continues to recover from the accidental blurting of the OS to all rings of the Windows Insider program, regardless of the desires of its unpaid army of amateur testers.

A user can then drop into the network to see what is actually using that precious data and slap on limits accordingly (although only on a network basis at present.)

As if to underline the inconsequentiality of the thing, Microsoft suggests wheezes such as asking it the weather, or requesting a joke.

The underlying assistant technology will, of course, find its way into Office.

Samsung always has a few surprises planned for its big launch events, so after announcing the new Galaxy Note 10, Samsung announced an ARM-based laptop with built-in LTE connectivity and a claim of a whopping 23-hours of battery life.

The Galaxy Book S looks to deliver a streamlined computing experience for people constantly on the go.

Like the previous Galaxy Book 2, Samsung’s new laptop runs Windows 10, and instead of a processor from Intel or AMD, the Galaxy Book S comes with a Snapdragon 8cx chip from Qualcomm.

Additionally, the Galaxy Book S includes a 13-inch full HD screen, a slim profile, USB-C charging, AKG stereo speakers, and a silent, fanless design.

As for specs, we’re looking at 8GB of RAM, 256GB or 512GB of storage, a microSD card slot, and 802.11ac wi-fi.

Samsung says the Galaxy Book S was also created to deliver a more mobile-friendly computing experience with touch-to-wake features and nearly instant power on times.

Samsung just announced the Galaxy Book S, a device that looks to promise the best of both worlds by marrying the the battery life and LTE data of a smartphone with the power and feature set of a full Windows 10 laptop.

We were able to try out the Galaxy Book S for a few minutes after the reveal, but unfortunately, the two biggest features here — the new Qualcomm 8cx processor, and the 23-hour battery life Samsung is promising that will provide — are hard to gauge in a brief hands-on.

Here’s what I can say, though: the Galaxy Book S wasn’t noticeably laggy or slow when I was using it, and it apps like Edge and Paint 3D ran as expected.

But that’s hardly conclusive one way or the other, and we’ll obviously have to put it through some proper testing with some more serious applications when it releases next month.

(An early demo of the 8cx running Firefox conducted by my colleague Sean Hollister last December also impressed, though, so there’s some room for optimism here.)

As for the hardware itself, Samsung’s done a nice job here.
