RCS, or Rich Communication Services was supposed to be the messaging protocol that banished SMS to the dark ages and upgraded today’s texting experience with modern features like read receipts, better multimedia sharing, way bigger character limits, and more.

Back when the SMS protocol was implemented on early mobile phones, its creators didn’t really envision the kind of modern networks and fast data speeds we have today.

They were working limited bandwidth and had to take into account components like T9 keypads while also ensuring compatibility with devices like pagers, which is also why sending images and videos over SMS is typically a huge pain in the ass.

However, with RCS, texting, or chatting as Google would have you call it, offers character limits of up to 8,000 (instead of 160), cross-platform messaging (for when you want to send texts via your PC or another device), and support for audio messages, sending texts and images/videos over wi-fi instead of cellular networks, and enhanced group chat functionality.

Basically, RCS allows texts to behave more like modern messaging apps such as WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and Google Hangouts.

But the problem for RCS is that after buying Jibe Mobile and championing the RCS Universal Profile so that it would be adopted by the GSMA, Google made the mistake of leaving the implementation of RCS to carriers and handset makers.

Mobile gaming may be most famous for free-to-play, hyper-casual apps, but the success of mobile ports of blockbuster games like PUBG and Fortnite proves that gamers are ready for more robust mobile experiences.

You need a phone designed like a gaming laptop, with the graphics, battery, cooling and accessories to match.

At PAX West 2019, you’ll get your first glimpse at a next-gen phone that brings all that and more to the table.

Come to the Republic of Gamers (ROG) booth at PAX West any day from August 30th to September 2nd, and you’ll get a hands on with the ROG Phone II, the powerful gaming smartphone so anticipated by gamers and techies that it sold out online in 73 seconds.

At the booth visitors will have a chance to play a demo of their favorite mobile battle royale—Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds or Fortnite—on a device designed to make touch-screen gaming much more intuitive.

Because the ROG Phone II comes packed with specs that will make PUBG and Fortnite look run better than it ever has on your current phone.

When Amazon first launched in 1995 as a website that only sold books, founder Jeff Bezos had a vision for the company's explosive growth and e-commerce domination.

He finally chose "Amazon" because he liked that the company would be named after the largest river in the world, hence the company's original logo.

In the first month of its launch, Amazon had already sold books to people in all 50 states and in 45 different countries.

An obscure book about lichens saved Amazon from going bankrupt.

One early employee worked so tirelessly over 8 months — biking back and forth from work in the very early morning and very late night — that he completely forgot about the blue station wagon that he'd parked near his apartment.

Every employee had to take a graveyard shift in the fulfillment centers to meet orders.

Lyft pulled 1,000 electric bikes from its Citi Bikes fleet in New York in March after some users were injured by a brake malfunction.

Those pedal assist models won't be returning until at least September, the company confirmed Tuesday.

A Lyft spokesperson declined to give a timeline for other cities where electric bikes operate, like San Francisco.

Lyft's pledge to expand its fleet of electric pedal-assist bikes in New York's Citi Bike fleet appears to be on the skids.

1,000 bikes pulled by the ride-hailing operator in March will remain out of service until at least the fall, a Lyft spokesperson confirmed Tuesday, as the company fixes a brake issue that sent some users flying over the handlebars, according to a Lyft spokesperson.

Ferrari provided air travel from Washington, DC, to Monterey, California, and two nights in a hotel for this story.

It's certainly true when it comes to cars, where having a telephone number bank balance opens doors to machinery that the rest of us only ever get close to in video games.

Recently, I got a chance to take a peek behind that curtain at the historic Laguna Seca racetrack in California.

Carbon fiber hybrids with around 1,000hp on tap and seven-digit price tags became the new apex predators of the car world, but for some, even these are now too common, too pedestrian.

For a certain kind of person, the answer is, you call up Ferrari and ask about its Corsa Clienti program.

Earlier this month, crowdfunding site Patreon cracked down on its NSFW content policy.

The site banned erotic accounts where hypnosis “is used as a coercion mechanic for nonconsensual” sexual interaction because of alleged pressure from its payment partners.

— Vex Ashley (@vextape) June 27, 2018

But it seems the crowdfunding site has now taken a step further against NSFW content.

As reported by The Daily Dot, erotic game developer Changer tweeted a locked Patreon post claiming the site has “zero tolerance” for “forced transformation and sexual slavery.” With this policy update, Patreon is effectively banning any form of transformation content where a dominant-submissive power exchange is involved.

According to Patreon’s notice, its definition of “forced transformation and sexual slavery” includes content like “feminization, sissification, bimbofication, expansion, and muscle growth.” Even if there’s consent, these genres of kink fall under Patreon’s umbrella ban on “glorification of sexual violence.” Last month’s policy update banned completely unrealistic depictions of hypnosis and mind control; even magic which obviously cannot be emulated in real life to “glorify sexual violence.”

The news comes less than a week after Google announced that it would acquire data analytics startup Looker.

Analysts say that Salesforce's Tableau acquisition is also a shot at Microsoft, which has a competing data analytics product, and at SAP's acquisition of Qualtrics.

Salesforce announced the deal on Monday, and said it would expand its operations into Tableau's hometown of Seattle to build a second headquarters.

"It's reflective of a world where data and analytics are becoming increasingly important.

MuleSoft's technology allows Salesforce's platform to suck in more data from various sources and Tableau will help Salesforce users make sense of it.
