Last night’s Apple event rocked my teensy-tiny reptile brain. But amongst all the badass updates and new hardware, one thing stood above the rest: the new Apple TV remote. Also known as the Siri remote, the old version of this device is one of the most harrowing things I’ve contended with. I’ve gone into detail about this before, but it’s scarred me so much I think it’s worth repeating. First though, let’s understand what we’re talking about. Have a look at the old Apple TV remotes: When you open your eyes and discover you’re in hell, this is the first…

The Mandela Effect is a strange phenomenon where a lot of people remember something incorrectly.

In film, a good example is “Luke, I am your father.” That’s not what Darth Vader said.

And yet, we all remember it that way.

(The line is “No, I am your father,” of course.)

A new film from writer-director David Guy Levy takes that idea and runs with it.

The Mandela Effect is set in a world where a father (Charlie Hofheimer) rapidly descends into grief after the sudden death of his daughter.

Mariah Carey’s diva demands are the stuff of legend, and if you thought for one minute that she’s bothered by the d-word, then think again.

In an interview with The Guardian, the singer, who has just released her autobiography, The Meaning Of Mariah Carey, was asked if she thinks she’s high maintenance and her response couldn’t have been more Mariah if it tried.

Mariah Carey

“You know what? I don’t give a shit. I fucking am high-maintenance because I deserve to be at this point,” she told the newspaper.

“That may sound arrogant, but I hope you frame it within the context of coming from nothing. If I can’t be high-maintenance after working my ass off my entire life, oh, I’m sorry – I didn’t realise we all had to be low-maintenance. Hell, no! I was always high-maintenance, it’s just I didn’t have anyone to do the maintenance when I was growing up.”

And she really doesn’t mind being thought of as a diva either.

“No! Who the fuck cares?” she said. “Honestly! ‘Oh my God, they’re calling me a diva – I think I’m going to cry!’ You think in the grand scheme of things in my life that really matters to me, being called a diva? I am, bitches, that’s right.”

Never change Mariah, never change.

Despite Mariah’s demands, she isn’t above getting stuck in when duty calls – something Cat Deeley has receipts for.

The presenter recently recalled the time Mariah played her bridesmaid and walked her down the aisle on her faux wedding day in the last ever episode of Chums when she appeared on SM:TV Live back in 2001.

“She actually went to Virgin Brides herself to pick that monstrosity of a dress but she wanted to be in lavender satin,” Cat recalled.

“As I was standing waiting to go on set, she fluffed my dress. I said, ‘Mariah what are you doing? What you doing Mariah?’ And she said, ‘You’ve got to look beautiful, it’s your wedding day!’”

Cat added: “She’s nuts and brilliant.”

'Open' means open to hate speech, child abuse, violence, sex and the kind of illegal acts Facebook would rather have nothing to do with.

In The Cleaners, a documentary by Hans Block and Moritz Riesewieck, contractors from the Philippines candidly discuss the steady stream of sex, violence and hate speech they have to sift through every day.

“Don't doubt too much whether your decision is right or wrong, because otherwise you will overthink it, and then you won't be able to take a decision,” Riesewieck summarises to TechRadar at Mozilla’s Mozfest, where he and his co-director have just been on a panel discussing internet moderation.

In 2009, Facebook had just 12 (yes, that’s twelve) content moderators looking out for the welfare of 120 million users.

Facebook’s Filipino contingent would occasionally encounter exchanges in languages they didn’t speak, using Google Translate to follow meaning.

Over a nine-month spell at the company (in Ireland, most workers are on 11-month contracts, he says but most leave early), Gray was dealing with 500-600 bits of content a night, usually in the 6pm to 2am slot.

Apple has hidden a little message for its fans in a short video following its Tuesday event where it unveiled the iPhone 11 Pro and its bigger sibling the Pro Max.

As reported by TechCrunch, the Easter egg was first spotted by a Reddit user.

The video hiding the Easter egg, posted by Apple on YouTube Tuesday afternoon, condenses the almost 2-hour Apple event down to a 2-minute wrap-up.

It's been viewed by almost 13 million people as of publication.

The Easter egg sits at around minute 1:25, and reads: "Error 09102019: This is just a thought.

But it might be nice to have some sort of Easter egg message in here for the hard core Apple fans that will stop the video."

Today sees the launch of an exciting new season in Fortnite — but not for everyone. Because of the ongoing legal battle between developer Epic Games and Apple, the game’s latest season won’t be appearing on Apple hardware, including the iPhone, iPad, and Mac. This marks a huge change for Fortnite, a game that has long been at the forefront of crossplay. Now that’s changed. If you’re playing the game on an Apple device — which is still possible if you already have it installed — you’re experiencing a very different version of Fortnite. And it’s one that feels vastly inferior to what’s available on every other platform.

One of the best things about Fortnite is the way it works seamlessly across mobile, consoles, and PCs. Aside from some...

I think the one moment that summed up the overall naffness of the Doogee S40 was when I tried to take some product shots on a bright summer’s day.

My brother-in-law was holding the phone with his arm outstretched, the screen showing TNW’s homepage.

I’m not just talking about day-to-day usage; its utterly crap hardware even conspired to prevent me from finishing this article.

Let’s talk about one of the worst phones that ever crossed my desk.

The Doogee S40 is a curious beast.

I can’t understate how unusual that is; even the most barebones rugged handsets from no-name Chinese manufacturers cost several times that amount.
