In the third preview version of Android N that was released yesterday is version 5.1 of Google's own keyboard, which is not released in the Play Store yet.

Biggest news is expanded support for themes.

Users can switch between a variety of colors, while a preview appears at the top.

Those who wish can also use an optional background image and make your very own keyboard.

Google Keyboard 5.1 also offers a host of new emoji, and the ability to change the color of the selected characters.

We do not know when the update might pop up in the Play Store, but impatient can download and install the keyboard manually from here.

However, this didn t happen overnight; here s where many marketers have gone wrong:

You followed the wrong metrics

As marketers, when we sit in meetings with executives, they say the same thing over and over: Show me the data.

We know the best marketing efforts are tracked, analyzed, tweaked or even tossed out based on the results that they show.

However, the data that we have been leaning on is frequently from discrete campaign results that miss the true impact of a campaign s broader implications.

You didn t treat your users like individuals

A recent study we conducted found that users hate it when they are delivered the same generic experience as the next person.

It s up to us to break out of the bad habits that I listed above and enter a new age of mobile engagement where we bring better, more personalized and more thoughtful mobile engagement to our users.

Every year, Google shows off its latest efforts at Google I/O.

The annual developer s conference is the place where the public first hears about the next version of Android, new features of Google s platform and services, new VR stuff, new artificial intelligence products… actually, you can expect just about anything, given the company s penchant for the weird and the surprising.

Years past, I/O has been held in San Francisco s Moscone Center, a typical indoor conference space—the same room where Steve Jobs unveiled the iPhone.

This year, Google has moved its big show to Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, California.

The same stage that s hosted Lollapalooza, Bridge School, Ozzfest, The Grateful Dead, and Phish will this week host Google execs and product managers as they show off their exploits.

Watch right here, and follow our liveblog.

Humans are highly visual beings, so it s certainly no surprise that online video content is becoming a favorite source of information and entertainment across the digital landscape—and it shows no signs of slowing down.

According to a HighQ infographic, experts believe that 69% of consumer Internet traffic will be from video by 2017—and that number will rise to 79% by 2018.

In fact, the same infographic reports that 52% of marketing professionals worldwide name video as the type of content with the best ROI.

As another example, TopRank Marketing has also taken to using video to add a visual dynamic to our weekly online marketing news roundup.

Rather than just giving our readers a collection of industry articles and their links, Account Manager Tiffani Allen and Content Marketing Lead Josh Nite provide humor and insight on the trending topics.

Best Practice: Consider using live streaming video to give your audience either a sneak peak at an upcoming event or make a special announcement.

A study from researchers at NASA s Jet Propulsion Laboratory looks at the chemical composition of those lunar oceans in comparison to our own.

This similarity in the proportions already has researchers pointing out that it could mean oceans on Europa could play a similar role to Earth s oceans in spawning life.

The cycling of oxygen and hydrogen in Europa s ocean will be a major driver for Europa s ocean chemistry and any life there, just as it is on Earth, lead author Steve Vance of JPL noted in a statement.

Of course, as exciting as these findings are, they re only a piece of the puzzle.

Currently, the researchers are trying to figure out just how oxygen and hydrogen, along with other elements, including nitrogen and carbon, interact in the alien waters.

Once they know that, they ll be able to get a much better idea of just what the similarity they ve found between our own and Europa s oceans means.
