My house and yard are full of succulents not because they’re trendy, but because anything else I try to plant dies within a month.

When I turn to Google to figure out why my zucchini plant randomly turned white and fell over (did I over water it?

), I fall into a rabbit hole of forum posts with a million different answers, get overwhelmed, and go back to buying my zucchini from the store like a chump.

Avalow, a company presenting in the TechCrunch Disrupt SF Startup Battlefield today, wants to help would-be gardeners like myself with a solution that’s 50% hardware and 50% online coaching.

There’s no Bluetooth, WiFi, batteries, or robotic arms involved.

Instead, they’ve built a self-watering, sub-irrigation-based, raised planter bed.

A carefully choreographed dance of temperature and energy was now under way.

The central engine came to full power first, then the four outer ones.

Sixty ambassadors, half of Congress, and about a quarter of America’s governors, watching with awe, shaken by “a sound that became your body,” as the artist Robert Rauschenberg put it.

At one point there was talk of a rocket called Nova that would have had eight of the beasts on its first stage and might have launched a spacecraft heavy enough to land on the moon and then come back.

They would build space stations after reaching the moon instead of before—and cities in craters and new rockets powered by nuclear reactors and everything else the Space Age that was clearly dawning might need.

And thanks to the need to carry fuel, oxidizer, life support, batteries, computers and more besides, the LM was noticeably smaller on the inside than the outside.

this makes it kind of thing, and launch the Centuryone, the first, AI-fund, which is exclusively focused on foreign currency trading.

”We are appealing to institutional investors seeking to spread risk in their portfolio.

However, in a few years we could possibly look at the individuals,” said Hugo Langeen, the co-founder of Century Analytics, which is based in Malmö, sweden.

This is because the forex market is 25 times larger than that of the stock market and includes large amounts of data.

EMEA and UK teams to colocate in Uxbridge, local MP shakes fist at stalled Brexit

In an announcement chock full of phrases like "customer centricity", Canon pointed the finger of blame at its plans to move to a "Business Process Outsource" (BPO) model for finance, business operations and customer services.

This in turn means the Reigate site "will have significant over capacity for future requirements" and so the axe must be swung in a move that, er, "underscores Canon's full commitment to the UK" – unless you work in Reigate.

Keen to fend off accusations of a Brexit-based exodus, Canon insisted that all it was doing was colocating its UK & Ireland Headquarters with that of the Uxbridge-based EMEA HQ.

The EMEA HQ has lurked in Uxbridge for the last 18 years.

This, of course, has not stopped local MP Crispin Blunt – runner-up to Conservative leadership candidate Jeremy Hunt in the 2019 Rhyming Slang Championship – from spluttering about the UK's faffing over its exit from the European Union.

Months of tit-for-tat trade negotiations between China and the United States have damaged cross-border investment interest between the superpowers, especially in areas that involve deep technology and intellectual property.

But one sector has so far stayed relatively intact: lifestyle.

That’s what got Per Welinder, the legendary skateboarder-turned-entrepreneur who recently moved into venture investing, to look towards China for opportunities.

In early 2018, Welinder teamed up with Chinese venture investor Curt Shi — a skateboard amateur himself — to launch early-stage angel fund Welinder & Shi Capital, focusing on bringing western lifestyle brands to China.

So far, Welinder & Shi has deployed all of its first fund into five consumer brands with the potential to capture China’s increasingly sophisticated middle-class, among whom Welinder observed a “growing individualism away from collectivism that is positive for lifestyle brands,” Welinder told TechCrunch in a phone interview.

Rather than taking the “spray and pray” approach, the fund picks a smaller number of companies compared to many other venture capital firms because it focuses on brands, which take time to build.

This is a car that is a hybrid, a roadster, a luxury cruiser, AND a high-strung supermodel.

Because all these things are happening at once in one vehicle, the i8 Roadster is simultaneously going head to head with some very stiff competition from all over the automotive world.

And its looks are in direct competition with the Venus de Milo.

But are you really looking at the above as alternatives when considering an NSX?

The stunning copper color (technically “E-Copper with Frozen Grey Accent” in BMW-speak) on this example does a particularly good job of highlighting the curves, swoops, and scallops of the futuristic body.

There is nothing on the road outside of a hyper exotic with a body this uniquely designed, especially the rear quarter panel with its floating plane and the dihedral doors.

So to help you out we've come up with some ideas to let you gift these luddites something nice and thoughtful while also keeping in line with their anti-tech lifestyle.

So you have to stick to the good old-fashioned letter, and if you're going to that effort you might as well go all the way.

You can't really live without access to some sort of phone, and even some Amish communities have a community phone that can be used for all those times when phones are necessary.

It's like a smartphone from a time before people even considered smartphones could be a thing.

But hey, they sell photo albums all over the place, and there are lots of options (big and small) to choose from.

So with a nice pair of binoculars your luddite friend can do the exact opposite, and see just about everything going on around them.

UK ISP has blocked popular image-sharing website Imgur over allegations it’s a popular host of child pornography.

Virgin Media customers attempting to visit Imgur are being met with this message:

“Access has been denied by your internet access provider because this page may contain indecent images of children as identified by the Internet Watch Foundation.”

Imgur is known for hosting memes and GIFs, but it seems the Internet Watch Foundation has found it's being used to host illegal content.

Imgur is also popular for hosting images to improve website loading speeds by lowering bandwidth consumption, along with reducing hosting costs.

Services like Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, WhatsApp, Telegram, and more have come under fire by authorities for not effectively tackling issues such as child abuse, hate speech, cyberbullying, fake news, and terrorist propaganda.

Slim and discreet, it’s a £300 wearable tracker that in tandem with its companion app monitors your heart rate, body temperature, and breathing while you sleep to predict when you’re ovulating.

When it comes to femtech, the blanket-term used to describe any women-specific tech regardless of whether its an app or a breast pump, that’s a big deal because the options out there are limited at best.

Ava’s study, titled “Wearable Sensors Reveal Menses-Driven Changes in Physiology and Enable Prediction of the Fertile Window,” is encouraging.

The study had 237 women wear an Ava tracker for a year or until they became pregnant to measure five different parameters: resting pulse rate, respiratory rate, heart rate variability, skin perfusion, and basal body temperature.

In it, Ava concluded that wearables were not only able to accurately and simultaneously track multiple physiological parameters during a menstrual cycle, Ava also developed an algorithm that could predict to 90 per cent accuracy a woman’s six-day fertile period.

A separate clinical study from 2018 for smartphone apps surveyed 73 fertility apps, and fewer than a third could predict a six-day window or smaller, and with accuracy falling between 11 and 81 percent.
