Recently, WhatsApp came up with a fact checking service in India for combating fake news right before the national elections.
Local startup PROTO has partnered with the messaging monster for the ‘Checkpoint Tipline’ by which users can check and confirm the veracity and authenticity of the messages they receive.
Now, users can forward the message on (+91 -9643-000-888), a WhatsApp’s fact checking service in India which will check the text and respond if the content is fake, misleading, bogus, contested or real.
A Great Boon for the Internet Users
WhatsApp with more than 200 million users across India, has been receiving backlash for its inability to keep fake news at bay on the platform.
Even the most credible news seems like fabricated news.
The way fake news shape is virtually difficult to separate the wheat from the chaff.

Whatsapp $1 Million Grant Coronavirus, Fight Against Fake News - In the middle of the corona virus pandemic, international messaging platform WhatsApp to avoid Coronavirus misinformation will provide high safety measures.
A $1 million grant has been generated to fight COVID-19-to keep a tight control for fake news and misinformation indicated by a press release.
Not only this, the company has also produced a Coronavirus Information Hub in partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO).
The grant $1 million which is generated will be granted to the IFCN, and will support journalism from the CoronaVirusFacts/DatosCoronaVirus association, a project created by the IFCN in January 2020, which included more than 100 fact-checkers in 45 countries.

WhatsApp users now will be able to identify fake or false news using the new feature.
The new feature is available for the WhatsApp Web or DESKTOP users and has also been launched for the Android and iOS operating systems.
