In front of integrating with Facebook’s other messaging services
Facebook may return Messenger’s chats back into its main social media application.
The feature is at present in testing and was spotted by application researcher Jane Manchun Wong, and would mean that you could use a solitary app to get both the social media platform and elements of the messaging service.
The change uses the current Messenger button in the Facebook application, yet it takes you to a new “Chats” segment instead of opening the different Messenger app.
Messenger was first released as an independent application back in 2011, and in 2014 Facebook expelled its functionality from its eponymous application.
Half a decade later, as Facebook prepares to coordinate its messaging services across Messenger, Instagram, and WhatsApp, the functionality seems to be returning.
