Disney Plus is set to release in the US and Canada coming November, and amidst all the hassle a rumor regarding Liv Tyler returning as Betty Ross has surfaced. The upcoming streaming service is bringing several MCU character-based TV series, and She-Hulk is one of them. The support characters like Falcon and Scarlet Witch are getting projects solely focusing them, and Disney intends to keep it going with She-Hulk.
Disney is also attempting to bring back some lesser utilized characters via the streaming service. Shanon Carter, played by Emily VanCamp, is returning for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, whereas WandaVision is set to showcase Jimmy Woo by Randall Park alongside Darcy Lewis by Kat Denning. The latter has not featured in MCU ever since Thor: The Dark World released in 2013. Luckily, the forthcoming TV series is bringing back one of MCU’s forgotten and original characters.
The rumor surrounding Liv returning in the MCU surfaced because of Daniel Richtman’s patreon. The show is rumored to showcase William Hurt back in the role of Thunderbolt Ross. William appeared in Black Widow, and his daughter may return as well. Liv already has had an appearance in the MCU as Betty in The Incredible Hulk. Although all of this is merely a rumor as of now, and have not been confirmed by either Disney or Marvel.
However, if Liv does return as Betty in She-Hulk, then it would be her first MCU appearance in 13 years, even that if She-Hulk has a 2021 release. If we speak realistically, then her return would not happen until 2022. So, it is difficult to tell how many changes have occurred in Betty ever since 2008. Betty had a relationship with Bruce Banner when he was played by Edward Norton, not Mark Ruffalo. However, MCU has not mentioned anything regarding that relationship even once. Instead, Bruce managed to find an intriguing love interest in the form of Black Widow.
Nonetheless, entertaining the idea of Liv returning as Betty Ross seems refreshing this early on. It is possible that Jennifer could look for Betty. However, reverse Betty looking for Jennifer is possible, as well. While there is little to no idea of what Betty has been up to in the last decade or so, it is quite possible that her gamma radiation research turned her into She-Hulk. This can open the possibility of Mark and Tyler sharing the screen, as the latter can make an appearance as Smart Hulk.
A solo Hulk flick is nowhere in sight, but the possibility of Tyler returning in She-Hulk could be the part of MCU’s long-term plans. This can open a new realm of possibilities for future MCU films; however, the information being a rumor could ruin the fun for everyone. There is no harm in hoping, and that is what the fans are doing.
