Eileen Fisher organic clothing

In addition to its Green Eileen clothing recycling line, the “Without Excuses” campaign is being added, for a natural and responsible fashion industry with ecological awareness.

Green fashion is here to stay. And it's not just an eco-friendly trend anymore. The industry is increasingly aware of the footprint it leaves in the environment and seeks to move towards a responsible fashion design, production and consumption, without losing an ounce of glamor.

For this, little more and more designers are betting on a progressive change in the garment manufacturing processes: from designs with alternative and eco-friendly products, natural dyes, organic materials based on flax and cotton treated with organic farming, reduction of water and energy consumption in the production chain and tendency to post-sale recycling. One of the eternal defenders of a fashion with greater ecological awareness is Eileen Fisher.

Since taking his first steps in the world of design three decades ago in a Tribeca loft with just $ 350 in budget, he has been aware that the industry can do more for the environment. It was one of the first to build its successful clothing brand without forgetting sustainable and durable materials, for eternal designs. In 2008, the Green Eileen initiative was born , a recycling program, whereby customers and employees selflessly donate used clothing of the brand itself to be later recycled. More than 450,000 garments have been recycled to date and it has two green stores in New York and Seattle.

Each American throws about 30kg of clothes a year, despite the fact that 100% of used clothing is recyclable. That is why this program has become sustainable and also profitable over time. The proceeds are donated largely to a selection of non-governmental organizations. But coinciding with Earth Day, Eileen Fisher has taken a step further.

And he has presented his campaign “Without Excuses” . You have the vision that your company will be 100% sustainable in 2020 and produce a neutral, or even positive, carbon balance in the next five years. Fisher wants to go around the industry, starting with his own brand. Responsible manufactures, fair trade, fair working conditions, conscious business practices, water, carbon, chemistry and natural materials.

"Because there are no excuses," insists the American designer. If a brand can do it, it is yours. The planet benefits. And its customers, who will have durable garments of excellent quality and low environmental impact. In addition to perfect fabrics for the spring-summer season. T-shirts, dresses and accessories made of linen, organic cotton and other recycled or dyed materials under sustainable standards, perfect for a hot day.

Eileen Fisher has always said that her brand is clothing, not fashion. His intention has always been that his designs survive in time, beyond the trends of the moment. And now it adds to the promise of achieving 100% sustainability in its practices by 2020. It will do so by adapting the supply chain, from the field to the store, through the factory.

Less toxins, more justice and responsibility. Because his intention is not only environmental, but also social. And he has just launched a new edition of his annual scholarship for women entrepreneurs with social awareness, a total of 10 scholarships with an amount of $ 100,000 each to launch responsible business projects in their communities. Eileen Fisher reminds us all that there are no more excuses for a more responsible social and ecological conscience(DKNY)
