The Holy Quran is the Word of Allah and the most essential book for any Muslim. It is the central part of any Muslim’s life. Especially one who wishes to live life according to Allah’s commands. Allah says in the first verse of Surah Baqarah that He sent down the Quran as guidance for all those who are conscious of him. Thus, memorizing the Holy Book is a very virtuous act for a Muslim. There are millions of Muslims around the world who have the sacred text memorized, letter by letter. Memorizers are also called the Huffaz (Hafiz/singular). This memorization (Hifz) is one of Allah’s ways of preserving the Holy Book in its original form until the Last Day. Since the advent of Islam, Quran memorization has been practiced by Muslims of all ages.
